Looks like AC had to end his longtime sponsor of alpinestar gear and bell helmets. In today's racerx vid from pro ride day he is wearing Thor like the rest of his team. Many thought he was gonna be the next RC and have his own gear for PC....guess not

If I remember correct if you don't wear Thor, you have to pay a penalty/fine. I doubt when he looked at the money it would cost that it was worth it.

This is all a guess before someone gets butt hurt.

But remember that for the first 2 years he was on PC, Carmichael wore the AXO gear that everyone on the team was wearing. It wasn't until he rode the factory bike in '99 for supercross and back to PC for outdoors that he went back to Fox. So who knows what'll happen.

For the 07 Supercross season before he went back he was wearing JT or something wasn't? He won Phoenix in it...

Part Unlimited owns both companies, so its not like Alpinestars is losing out.

He was'nt officially part of the team that year.

Pichon was a 100% PC guy but wearing JT (when the others were Axo) in '95/'96, that was before the RC years.

Parts Unlimited owns Thor and Moose, They are the USA distributor for ASTARS off road and street apparel. There is another company distributing only ASTAR casual but they are small. Parts unlimited is basically why we can't by the mx gear because they don't want it to hurt Thor sales.

My mind must be going on me....

I can barely remember what friggin' bikes these guys are on for more than a couple years.....let alone the gear. hehe.

BTW....I really dig the look of that Alpinestar gear. The stuff Barcia and AC wear look really good.

He wore the UFO because he was doing GP's full time and "moon lighting" supercross. He wasn't on Mitch's team, he was on that Freeman Porter sponsored Kawi team. I wonder if he even had a bonus structure for his finishes from Mitch?

Winner!
And an agreement was made, because PU sells so much A-Stars street and moto stuff, that Alpinestars won't import the riding gear into the US through any other source, in order to not harm or take from the THOR brand.

It all has to do with the ASTARS boots too.

Yeah, I meant that under the "street and moto stuff"

Don't be so quick to blame Parts Unlimited for not being able to buy A Star gear. you can blame Alpinestars themselves. Right now in the USA, Astar boots are a neutral brand. if you wear fox, thor, one, etc. you can wear astar boots without having 2 different clothing companies on you. if astar has gear is the USA, someone will say, "you cant wear astar boots with anything else it dont match" I know its kinda stupid but if you have ever worked in a shop you know how anal people are in MX about matching.. If alpinestars wanted to sell gear in the usa Parts unlimited wouldn't be able to stop them.. Astar would just go direct or offer their lucrative distributorship to someone else.

Right there with ya Armageddon, Been in and out of dealerships since 84 and was a rep for WPS for awhile. I've been in Janesville at the headquarters and everytime it was about not hurting THOR.
