The AMA almost docking RC 25 points in 2006 for the led levels in his gas at one round. That could have ruined the entire series. It was resolved, but for a couple weeks after it was announced it looked like RC's championship hopes were over and he was going to pull out of the series. Could have easily ruined the best year of supercross we've ever had.

All these changes were made to gear towards TV coverage and numbers still are not that amazing because joe blow will never related to MX/SX or anything to do with it. Oh and Honda def dropped the ball with Ricky, dumbest shit in history.
I did Hangtown weekends a decade or so ago and it was quite memorable. But getting home at 2AM after the race day on Sunday and having to go to school the next day with little to no sleep sucked, and not mention my parents having to go to work with little or no sleep the next day was not to easy on them. You can still make a weekend of it and use Sunday to get home now. Plus this year we have a qualifying race for some spots on the gate as well which is a step in the right direction.

For me, I think either the governing bodies making rules that ultimately got rid of 125cc two strokes from professional racing. Or the manufacturers making the price of a new bike almost unobtainable to the general public and thus killing off the dream of owning a new bike to many people.

Series promoters who are prepared to change every aspect of a sport with a long glorious history, in pursuit of short term financial gains from an Al-Jazheera TV deal.

The same Series promoters who claim they have no interest in existing mx fans as the deal above will bring them 100 million new viewers.

Placing Monster banners over the outside start gates to make it look like there are more than 20 on the line.

Holding press conferences to announce new race formats on a weekly basis before you've consulted anyone about the proposed changes.

-Anytime the AMA attempts to enforce a rule then caves in to pressure. Could not look more impotent.
-Honda letting RC and MC go in the prime of their careers
-Getting rid of the 125 class and/or two stroke racing in general. The majority of the target audience cannot afford new bikes anymore because of this.
-Getting rid of Glen Helen and replacing it with tracks that could be built on any dry lake bed in the desert (or parking lot for that matter).
-Taking till 2013 and 2014, respectively, to bring back a southeast National and a mid-atlantic/northeast Supercross.

Killing the 125 class, with no benefits for the riders or fans, and just create some sort of schism between so many, when there was nothing wrong with the class to start with.

Letting greed rule and the OEMs/wallet go before reason and sense, which still happens right now.

So, coming in at about a 10:1 ratio, killing off the 125 class appears to be the biggest bonehead move in motocross EVER.

Obvious that the powers that be could not care less. Except for KTM, TM, Husqvarna......maybe even Yamaha with their old and tired yet still highly effective offering to the tiddler crowd! Considering those are now the "Big 4" of the 125 class it would be cool to see them make a push for a national event.

I remember my first ride on my 01 YZ250F and thinking that this thing will be the death of the 125 without a rule change. Although it was obviously heavier and soon to be discovered heavily choked in the exhaust department, there was no mistaking that the double displacement and 13,500 rpm put the bike in a completely different class. Mitch Payton confirmed it yet the AMA and the OEM's turned a blind eye to the history of the sport. Damn shame.

Racing seems crucial for future prosper. The 125 class in my neck of the wood is growing. This weekend when I was riding, it was pretty funny, because when the day was ending and I was still out doing laps, the only people that where still riding were on 125s (and one 144). I looked like a practice day from 2000 or something. Two YZ125, two SX125 and one TM144. I sounded pretty good. Also a nice angle was, that of the riders that were the fastest during the whole day were on 125s, doing one of the series. I tried to keep pace! Smile

It would be interesting to see the results of a petition or a survey on bringing back the 125 class.

I haven't heard anyone say killing the 125 class wasn't a crime, except the few in the Pig 4 corner.

Not addressing the inequity that exists in the 2T/4T "issue" long before they every will [if they ever do]. It's one thing to make a mistake or error in judgement or make a bad call, it's another to sit there and not do anything about your fuck up.

I disagree with a couple statements...

450s - This is like sleeping with your wife's hot sister, not only is she extremely sexy with a nice body, she can ride you like you have never rode before and the best part is she does all the work!!!! You just lie be lazy and take it like a champ!

30 second chicks - It baffles me that guys complain about this.. I mean seriously in todays world with the gay movement(the media) forcing gay acceptance into every portion of our daily lives, i would much rather have my son looking at half naked or fully naked girls holding a 30 second board for what is about to be some of the best and intense outdoor racing were gonna see(hopefully)!.. This is like people writing letters to Don Maeda complaining about the half naked girl posing by a bike.. NEWS FLASH if you dont like it dont look at it!!

Chicks in the Nationals - How is this a negative thing in anyway shape or form. If anything it strengthens the fan base by adding diversity and promoting more people to ride and more importantly more women to ride.. If i found a girl that loved to ride as much as i did or somewhat close to as much that means family time at the track every weekend. Which is awesome in so many ways if you have ever heard the saying "quality time" from your women then you would be pumped because ideally that means goto the track ride all day grill out some good food and go home and knock the socks off!!

Killing the 125 class hands down the dumbest move. Although, trying to make up for it by letting 250 2t's compete in the same class at the amateur level may be even dumber. Essentially their logic is to put kids off an 80 and onto a 250 2T.....WTF?????
