It's grown so boring and predictable. I'm tired of the same old intro's, pyrotechnics, podium interviews, t-shirt cannons, Monster girls (well, maybe not completely tired of them), pit party montages and race format; I'm tired of the start determining the race winner, knowing who's going to win the 450 championship by the time the series leaves CA and having one bad race determine the 250 champ.

I believe this to be a legitimate sport, so I wouldn't want to minimize it with a bunch of gimmicks, but the current format needs to be changed to keep die-hard moto fans interested and bring in enough new spectators and non-energy drink money to keep it alive. I think some of the fresh ideas implemented in Arenacross are worth consideration in SX and/or (I can't believe I'm going to say this) consider applying some of the changes NASCAR used to improve the racing. How about combining the 250's for one series? Zeroing the points after 10 rounds? Holding 2 mains? Adding a joker lane?

Sorry, just watched the 450's from last night and needed to vent.

I've felt that way for a couple of years now. It seems like the tracks flow too well. They blip the throttle 3 times turn the corner, blip it 3 more, turn the corner, hit the whoops, turn the corner, blip it it 3 times turn the corner....

It's gotten so predictable that I don't even watch anymore, just check Vital or RacerX for updates throughout the evening.

The only racing I watch is outdoors and who knows how much longer I'll be able to do that with SPEED leaving.

Sounds like someone's favorite rider isn't winning so he's not enjoying SX. If you're a fan of the sport I don't know how you can't enjoy watching Supercross. I prefer the outdoors and I think most do but this year has some of the deepest talent ever and I enjoy watching it. Last weekend's race was great and seeing how fast they were going last night in the mud was crazy.

The series is too long. By the time we get to the last 4 or 5 rounds I get bored with it. By this time of year most of us are back into riding outdoors, Local races back in full swing, LLQ's, etc. The series should be 13 rounds, 6 west, 6 east, then the last round with the 250 shootout.

I completely agree on the "having one bad race decide the 250 championship". Or rather, if you have 1 bad race, its decided your championship. That and had anyone besides Roczen and Tomac won the the 250 west? I think its time to ditch the split up coasts.

The problem doing that is there would be no privateers in the 250main, so no exposure for them to get a ride or money. Chad tried to do it in Australia in that series and I think it had some good ideas. 2 x 10 lap mains back to back etc.. But some idea's were dumb, which I think was the reason he pulled out of it.

The OP is right. It is stale. I've followed SX since I was a little kid and now I'm totally bored with it. This is the second year in a row that I've gotten all jacked up for A1 and then by A3, I'm bored with it. Haven't watched a whole race program since. Most of my riding buddies don't watch at all anymore.

If the select few people that still ride in this country aren't watching consistently, then why would the general public?

It's because it's over with two rounds to go. It gets like this for outdoors when the racing gets stale.

MMCDan has a point. When we first started watching it TV years ago, all we saw was RC riding around by himself. Then it was JS. This weekend, I think everyone from 8th or 9th place down was lapped. The tracks are stale, and there's not enough fast guys to make a real race. It's all about the top few that have the best of everything from their sponsors, without that, you're going nowhere. How about getting it back to racing? If more than 40 show up to race, have a timed qualifier. If not run 2 heat races splitting the number in half. Take the top 9 in each, and run and LCQ and get 2 more. Now you got 20. Then run the twenty, and take top 8. Then run LCQ for 2 more. Now you got the top 10 on the main event. With 10 guys to run against, how hard are they gonna push. It's always been all about the top 5 anyway. Maybe it's not a good idea, but I do agree that it's getting stale. I looked for last nites race on you tube and it wasn't there yet. It was very early this AM. But my enthusiasm wasn't there any more. RV has it now, it's between Dungey and Milsaps for 2nd.

They don't need to make the points go to zero, but they need to do something. I think they should start awarding points for the heat races too. First place gets 10, and then it goes from 8 points down to 1 for the people who qualify for the main.

OP basically wrote the post that I have been formulating in my head for a while now.

I love MX, I enjoy SX, but damn, this far into the season it IS stale.

And while we're at it, the 125's and 250's were WAY more interesting to watch. To truly go fast and be a premier rider, the two strokes demanded an amazing amount of talent and skill. Don't get me wrong, the guys today are incredible at what they do, but it's different.

To me the tracks are at fault. 90%+ he who gets the holeshot wins. No one coming through the pack has a shot. I wanna see passes for the lead, atleast like Davi and Trey at A1.

I don't believe the 'die hard' fans are a serious consideration, they'll watch no matter how lame they think it is. The $$$$ is probably in the casual 'fan' that would be there even if it was a monster truck show. For those people that don't follow it week to week the side show is awesomenessing and makes their experience even more betterer...........another $5 hotdog please.......

$$$$ runs the show.

I do wish they would do something. I don't even care if they go through a year of experimenting to figure out what works and what doesn't. I think they've done it to a degree the last couple of years but it would be cool to see the pre and post race events broken up. Not sure what the answer is but try something. It'd be cool if DC would chime in and give his input.

But I agree that any changes are going to bring out the whiners regardless. That's why I generally try not to complain when they do try something new, even if it doesn't work out.

That's 1 more bike than you're gonna see in the MAIN and doesn't take the Weston's & Partridge's in to consideration. All of these teams and their riders & bikes have shown the ability to pull a good start and make the main; furthermore, if you want to tell me that all the bikes on all the teams listed AREN'T capable of winning? Well, you wouldn't just be wrong. You'd be showing PURE ignorance.

How many Winners and Leaders have you had THIS YEAR?

Winners...

Milsaps
Barcia
Villopoto
Dungey
Stewart

Leaders?

Hell, we got to see Josh Hill take a stab at it!
Alessi seems to like to give it a go...
How many Different guys have actually lead this year? Too many to remember...?

Here's my point: You ALL are just a BUNCH OF BITCHERS & you're dead wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, doesn't the sport(SX/MX) always get kinda "stale"?

MC years, KILLED it. 72 WINS, bread crumbs for everyone else!

RC years, KILLED it. MX especially but SX he also has 5 championships and 48 wins!

JS, had his dominant span as well.

And now RV in SX, coupled with RD and RV in the outdoors.

I've always looked at it like, regular peeps find it kinda boring, except for the crashes, but if you've ever rode, you appreciate it on a different level. Even if one guy runs the table.

I think the we've had some better moments, with more of them, and better racing the last few years.

I'd say that are hitting their targets. Did you not see the crowds they are pulling? Maybe for the diehard moto fans this new format is Circus like, but the average fans that buys the tee shirts, beer, food, parking and entry fees are having a great time and loving it. This is what SX has become and I don't ever seeing it going back to how it was.

Thats a GREAT idea Roach. Points for the heat races. Not as much as the main event points, but just a little something to motivate the guys to make passes. Excellent!

Id shorten the series to 14 races, keep the east/west 250 classes and try to make the tracks look like the tracks of the late 90's.
