In 2005 and 2006 Ricky Carmichael won the supercross championships with out winning any of the last 5 races. Does anyone
think he could have won any of those races or was the Championship more important then the win. RV1 needs only to finish 4th
or better in the last 3 races to win the Championship. Does it make since to let someone by or fight to the end at every race. I
am not saying he didn't try his hardest to win this last weekend, but don't you think it would have been the smart choice to not
duke it out when a mistake could cost you a championship. Just my .02 cents worth. GoRV1!

Gotta give some credit to him as well. Well thats what your nephew did, perhaps you could take a page out of his book sometime.
He likes to Win & Winning pays.
The sticking point?
Titles REALLY pay.

Stewart really faster that RC in those wins or was RC trying to protect a championship and not riding all out. I know my nephew
better than most and I saw him racing for a championship and not for the win. Maybe, some of you old timers can tell us about the
races back in 05 and 06, were Chad Reed and James Stewart suddenly faster than RC. Ryan Dungey is a great champion and has earned everything he has accomplished, but I can't help thinking that RD5 can probrably win some more races this season
without being the fastest rider on the track.

RD was the fastest rider last night, that is why he won. If you're suggesting RV was faster last night, you have blinders on.
I cant tell you about 05 and 06 as my memory is a bit foggy. I can tell you though that in 03 RC beat Reed for the title, but Reed went on a run towards the end, RC wasnt on his level at the end of that series and got beat straight up numerous times, same thing happened on saturday night to your nephew.
that Reed and Stewart were faster than RC in 06 and 05. Do you think that if RV1 was 10 points down in the Championship he
would have raced the same way he did last night. I agree I may have blinders on, but maybe not.
mode right now and he is not willing to risk that over a win which will affect the remaining races just like it has other Champions
like RC in 05 and 06 and even RV1's win in Las Vegas when he passed JS7 and left him in the dust in 09.
So tell me Cig.....if you had the chance to stack away a cool million for a championship and add one more title to your career....what would you do? Go for fucking broke to win a race instead of take a 2nd and lose it all? Or go play it smart and take the wins you can get and walk away with all that extra money and the title?
From what i read above in uncle's post was....he gave credit to RD for running an awesome race. And you still talk shit. You always talk shit.....and will continue to talk shit ( from behind your keyboard ).
Pull your fucking head out of your ass for a minute and think before you type.
BTW....pretty sure after reading most of your posts.....your uncle is also your father. Go figure.
embarrassment to the family. I do go to the SX races, but I usually cheer for my nephew and could care less about those who
boo him. I'll have to ask him at dinner this week if he is embarrassed by my posts and if he is I will certainly respect his wishes
and post less frequently.

There , I said it uncle....and I aint even related to him.
I would say it was smart racing by both RD and RV last night.
It would just be nice to not always have to attach an * to Dungey's accomplishments, especially by his main competition's relative, on a message board.
season winds down the need for wins is not as crucial as the need to protect the championship points. RD5 is RV1's
closest competitor and I have great respect for him and his serious mx/sx skills. I know the Ryan's both know that. The
win last night was taken by RD5 and it was a fairy tale night for sure. I hope RV1 can have the same type of victory in
Seattle, but I am sure he will take a second or third if the situation dictates.
His question was about championship strategy...
95% of the people on this board don't read a post before they respond.
Dungey was the fastest in Minneapolis. Point situations reversed I believe the outcome would of been the same.
Now probably RC had figured out at some point that he had enough of a points cushion, and didn't push for wins when he may have otherwise done, but it's a risky strategy. I have no doubt that in those cases (and maybe now with RV), that if their closest competitor in the title is clearly faster on the night, that the decision between lay up and take the points vs going for the win is in their minds.
My guess is that most riders still want to win and giving up points voluntarily is not an easy decision, and maybe one that many don't even consciously think about in the heat of the battle.
Most guys who disagree just want to stir up shit instead of answer the question.
Not that it means anything but my wife who has been going to MX races since 1983 with me, my sons, and now grandson and is absolutely "over it" at this point in her life. Happened to walk by the tv and watched for a second because she heard the crowd go nuts said "why did that guy let him past" when it happened and walked away. I asked her before I posted this what made her think that one guy let the other by and she said "he stood up and coasted for a second as the orange bike went past". She has no idea who is who and no interest in Sx at all. Fans of each rider will see what they want to see when it comes down to it.
Great race, thats for sure.
