Guys and gals,

"It was forty years ago today, Jim Pomeroy showed the Euro's how we played..." (not much at writing to Sgt. Peppers)

But anyway, Tomorrow or today depending on when you read this, Jim Pomeroy became the first American to win a GP in Spain aboard his trusted (sometimes) Bultaco. April 6th, 1973.

So how about we post some pics and have a "Bimbo Day"? (not that kind you pervs...well, now that you think about it...)

I remember..was real proud and excited and Americans were coming...
and remember riding a Bultaco with the shifter on the wrong side ..what a trip.

Correction, Bultacos and most other Euro bikes shifter on the CORRECT side. Japan and Merica fuked that up.......

What a nice guy. Never met a person he didn't know, or so it seemed. Always enjoyed having him here in Texas at our vintage events.

Favor request from me .... anyone got any good photos of Jim on the 78 RC500 Honda's? They are few and far between on google and not detailed. Possibly at a Trans Am / AMA event anyone??? Need some research material for my project.






Since he and Lackey always seemed to be vintage racing together... When was the last time two 78 RC's shared the same floor space???

There is a blood red Pursang hanging from the rafters at Armadillo Willy's restaurant in Tyler ,Tx that I did a little resto work on back in the early 90's with Jim's autograph on it. This is a great thread. When people ask what year I was born I will now reply with, 1973 the same year Jim Pomeroy went overseas and showed the euros how we race motocross on our way to decades of world domination. No one will know what I am talking about but some might then want to.
JK sounds cool though. All racers are bad asses.

I would really like to thank any and all of you guys that keep the history or our great sport alive with these stories and photos of the Golden Era of Motocross. I was very fortunate to have been a teenager during the 70"s. I remember some of the events but obviously not all of those that occurred. The history then and now of Motocross is extremely important to keep alive. Again, thanks for recalling these great memories.
