Ive got the cartridge kit for my 2011 KTM 450 and absolutely love them, I've only ridden with them a handful of times due to injury so i haven't had a chance to play around with the clickers too much though. Very tempted to buy the TTX shock to

I've had several bikes that came with Ohlins shocks, they always performed great. Get correct spring rate, set sag and go. They always worked great out of the box.

I bought the TTX cartridge kit and TTX shock for my 08 RMZ450. Again, set sag with heavier springs and go. Very plush and no fuss no muss, they work great out of the box.

If you're horrible at setting up suspension like I am, they are magic. If you have a great local suspension tuner who will work with you, and you are a good tester who is perceptive to small changes unlike me, then you might be able to save some money by going that route.

In my opinion the Ohlins isn't cheap, but it's quick, easy and it flat out works.

I have a couple of sets. They make the bike turn better, plus bump absorption is top notch. Depends how fast you are. They really only work better the harder you push the bike. If your mid pack C, they are going to make little difference. The last inch of travel has very good bottoming resistance.

Big question: Are they worth the money? For me , not really. If I would loose 15 lbs and get to 165 and train with as much money as I spent, I would be faster, no doubt. Even at 53. But I am of an older crowdand I have have no bills. I will say that they go over potholes on jumps better than anything I've ever used, and I have raced for 37 years.

Did I mention that everyone who has ridden one of my bikes said that it turns like a Suzuki?

We use the full set up on a 2012 CRF250R. It is very good stuff. Check out Fastbike Industries, he is great, and easy to deal with.

Aftet spending thousands on my ktms from 11 to my 13 450sxf . I finally broke down n bought a complete set forks n shock . Best money ive ever spent! This stuff is the plushest but still firm n excellent bottoming resistance!. I think for ktms its an absolute must!

Has anyone put a set of Ohlins on a 2013 CRF 450? Very tempted, not very impressed with the new air forks so far, but unsure if the 2012 ohlins would work on the new frame/setup etc

Yup, I installed O(Ö)hlins on my two last bikes. KX125 and crf450 -09. It improved the handling on my KX so much that it was almost silly. That bike was a blast to ride.
Can't really say the same about the CRF. Or to be honest, I didn't even like it. I ran it for 5 hours before i sold the shock and went back to the stock KYB shock again. I don't know if it's fair to compare these two though since it was two complete different units. The KX was also equipped with the Öhlins PS forks, the CRF had the stock KYB.

From what my suspension guy tells me you can re-valve the standard stuff to be just about as good, the main difference is the shock internals, no bladder, it has a floating piston with the gas behind, he says the average bladder has seeped nitrogen into the fluid after 15 hours, the ohlins go to 45hours before a service. A friend put the tttx cartridge and shock into an 11 crf and turned it into a couch, he loves it. Spendy modification though.

Ohlins is the best mod you will ever do to your bike period. They are expensive but when you get rid of your bike you can keep them, sell them on ebay, put then on your next bike,ect. You cant do that with a 800 dollar revalve so really in the end they cost about the same. The only problem with them is that you will be hooked on them for life and will never want anything else. They are plush and smooth but have great bottoming resistance.

On a KTM anyways, best money I have ever spent.

On a Jap bike, I doubt I would spend the $.

Apples to oranges. We're comparing them with stock stuff, not works or a-kit which is in a whole different price zone for those of us who have to actually pay for our susp.

Actually Yamaha owned Ohlins for a 20 year period 1987-2007. And cost per unit when bidding to the manufacturers specs is what get the suspension contract for that model year.

No way. Those OEM fork guards weight like 1/10 of a single pound and then you have to add back in the weight of the CF ones anyways.

People often over predict their weight loss. I on the other hand weigh lots of stuff and usually find that the weight savings are not as significant as I had hoped or been told.

I weighed my Ohlins and the forks were like .2# less combined than my stock WP forks and the shock weighed 1# less than the stock WP.

I am considering a purchase of ohline shock. who did you guys buy from? who knows how to properly set up and service ohlins suspension for KTM 450 sxf motocross in usa? any recommendation appreciated.
