Hey guys...its that time again....my son and I are making the trip down south to OKC to ride some Moto.....we were planning on riding at Norman on Friday, Riding at I-35 MX on Saturday and Reynards on Sunday. I've never been to The Norman track, It seems I-35 is closed, so now I'm scarambling a little bit to fill saturday or Suday. I 'd like a prepped track, so I thought I'd ask some locals if anything new has popped up since this time last year that we rode down there. What do you think, anything new going on?

Thanks Sean K

I haven't been down since last years OK state series. My opinion though Norman was one of the worst tracks in the series so was Reynards. If you are looking for good around OKC and are coming from the north I would suggest Ponca, Raw and maybe swing out to Anadarko. Its too bad Cooperland isn't still open that place was the best.

If I were you, I wouldn't ride Norman on Friday. They will be open but it will not be prepped. However, Saturday and Sunday they have prepped practice and it is a track that is not really worth practicing on if it is not prepped. Also, Motocity in Blanchard, OK is only about 10-15 miles away from Norman and has some of the best dirt to ride on. They usually have a prepped practice on Sunday. However, this weekend is Easter so I am not sure. Sometimes they will have prepped practice on Saturday. Right now their schedule doesn't show anything this weekend but they is not that unusual for them. Go to their website, motocitymx.com and check it out. Their recorded hotline is 405-793-0399 and is a more reliable way to find out. Between Reynard's, Motocity and Norman you will at least be able to fill Saturday and Sunday with prepped tracks. Reynard's track layout has been changed and is more fun than the old layout. On the other hand, Anadarko(about 45-60 minutes from the Norman track) is an awesome sand track. They are open on weekends but it is very hard to tell if and when it is prepped. Their hotline is 405-247-6095 and the Anadarko track's website is whorp.com but is hardly ever updated. Hope this helped. P.S., if you can make it down a little early, Norman has a prepped practice Thursday night and it is usually in the best shape on their practice nights.

Might as well just keep driving a little more to DFW.

It's Muskogee. With a "k".
Don't you live close to that track at West Siloam?
River Valley is it?

If you're in the mood for some fun, why not get over to the Stillwater 500 in Stillwater, OK (OSU town)??
Fun, wide trails to roost around on.

Do you mean the national track in Ponca, or what. I'm having trouble finding any info on that place.

You can stay on wider portion of trails. Some of the areas are 10 ft wide. There's newer/narrower single track(if you know where it is) and then there's the well worn areas. Fun/popular area. It's owned by City of Stillwater, so fee applies.
Unless someone else lets you in the place. Google "Stillwater 500 trails" go from there re admission & so forth.

That 500 place is fun but if I wasn't with someone who knew the place I might have spent the night in the woods. It all looks the same for a first timer.

Don't forget South75MX just south of Tulsa on hwy 75 and a litter further down the road is Jandebeaurs mx. 75 is a good track but I'm not sure about Jandebeaurs anymore. They don't groom it often and last time I was out that way the track was full of rocks. Haven't made it to sweet 16 yet in Muskogee but I hear good things about it.

We rode the Norman track today.....hung out with the shifter cart guys last night getting ready for testing today, so we decided to ride there. Had a great time, we are headed to reynards tommorow, are you going to be there, I'd like to meet you. Heck if your from Iowa I'm sure our paths have crossed, I've been racing in NE and IA for 30 years now... We don't come to OKC and not visit Reynard Raceway...

I talked to a guy today in the pits that asked me "are you the guy that posted "where to ride in Oklahoma," I told him i was the one and asked him if he responded to my question, then he said "no I just lurk on vital," I thought that was funny. Vital MX can be a very usefull tool, as I am mostly a lurker myeslf, until I need some info. I love this place almost much as I love this sport. Like anything though you just don't want to get caught up in the BS. Smile

No, I won't make this weekend due to family stuff. Have fun riding!
If you see 'ol Robert (Dad) prepping the track, tell him the old pony tail guy from Iowa says 'hello'.
I know him from the AX tours.

BTW: I raced Ft. Calhoun back in the day.

Was fort calhoun or genoa the one with "BANZAI HiLL" ? man that was a while ago.....I will tell him when i see him tommorow.I hope Robbie will be there teaching school. I tell my son who really does'nt know his history, (or seem to care), that when robbie is riding the track pull over and watch him. Its not everyday you get to see a prodigy strut his stuff.
