Am I missing something here... Since when or where in the rule book does it say a penalty can be issued mid-race? Wether it's a red flag situation or not!?!?!?
Penalties are always issued at the END OF A RACE...
Again maybe I'm missing something. I've ben racing for 25 yrs., 5-6 pro and can't remember someone getting docked mid-race?

The sport can be confusing enough for the average fan/new to the sport folks/casual viewers.
They (AMA/FIM) seem to make stuff up in regards to scenarios and just wing it with the rules, especially with new stuff.
Rather then have predicted something and then place more concrete things in place in regards to the rules.
The RC fuel issue would be a VERY good example of this.
In all reality....
If you walked up to an AMA/FIM official and asked them a couple very simple questions....
"What constitutes as a complete pass under a red?"
I bet you wouldn't even get a true answers with an explanation.
"When the rider fully passes the other guy."
But in all reality per the rules, once a guy inches out another guy his bike advances a position via results - ever since I can remember. So that must constitute as a complete pass.lol
"So what is the penalty for completely passing someone under the Red until after the trouble area?"
"OH.....we just wing it on that one... See yah next week."
That's why nobody can get over this. It is a joke plain and simple. RV should have been placed back to 4th after the race.
well done.
