Penalty issued Mid-Race??

Edited Date/Time 3/5/2013 1:31pm
Am I missing something here... Since when or where in the rule book does it say a penalty can be issued mid-race? Wether it's a red flag situation or not!?!?!?

Penalties are always issued at the END OF A RACE...

Again maybe I'm missing something. I've ben racing for 25 yrs., 5-6 pro and can't remember someone getting docked mid-race?

Ive been around a long time too...Ive seen many restarts but this yr is the first where I Have witnessed them restart folks in a line based on the position/finish when race is stopped. All year long everybody and i mean everybody has talked about how important the start is to win so they probably thought that docking positions off his placement finish wld be sufficient. Its not their fault RV went animalistic and broke through some serious statistics Smile

The believe the official at the scene has the power to make a call at the time of the incident, but that doesn't mean he can't make a mistake.

Finish line isn't really the finish line, penalty mid race, AMA needs to take a serous look at themselves, but as long as THEY don't see a problem it will never change.

That is one of the problems.
The sport can be confusing enough for the average fan/new to the sport folks/casual viewers.
They (AMA/FIM) seem to make stuff up in regards to scenarios and just wing it with the rules, especially with new stuff.
Rather then have predicted something and then place more concrete things in place in regards to the rules.
The RC fuel issue would be a VERY good example of this.

In all reality....
If you walked up to an AMA/FIM official and asked them a couple very simple questions....
"What constitutes as a complete pass under a red?"
I bet you wouldn't even get a true answers with an explanation.
"When the rider fully passes the other guy."
But in all reality per the rules, once a guy inches out another guy his bike advances a position via results - ever since I can remember. So that must constitute as a complete pass.lol

"So what is the penalty for completely passing someone under the Red until after the trouble area?"

"OH.....we just wing it on that one... See yah next week."

ALL penalties have ALWAYS been after the finish. Therby eliminating the chance for the penalty to be made up for. The way they handled this is like docking points after a race and then holding another seperate race to allow the discaplined to earn them back (unless you are RC.. LOL).

That's why nobody can get over this. It is a joke plain and simple. RV should have been placed back to 4th after the race.

Hey, don't you have to write a kick ass review for the new mx game out right now? So what if there is another thread, don't like it don't read it. Wink
