The official should never have talked to RV until the race was finished. He made 2 very questionable passes in this race and should have been docked. Ive raced SX before and trust me you can see the flags there easier than an outdoor race. He knew what he was doing. Whether or not the pass happened before or after the flag he took advantage of a situation with a downed rider. To me that is very low.
he was more aware of the yellow fag rule then stewart apparently. no matter how dumb or unsaf you think te rule is, he took advantage of it and you cant blame him. hes paid to win. the 1st penalty i dont know if what he got was fair or not, havent decided myself

Nobody is saying that RV wasn't fastest guy of the night, even Stewart gave him huge props in his interview talking about how amazing RV rode. That is not the point. Having some rules, following them and being consistent is very much the point.

How was it two races? Were points awarded after the first three laps? It was a restart, nothing more. If they try to play that line, they'll have to be enforcing stop and go penalties and not after the race penalties. They fucked up as usual.
The race was stopped and they lined back up. Essentialy that could be like a second race. Either way, they assesed the penalty at that point which was the correct thing to do since there was a restart. The 2nd incident is a non issue since there was nothing illegal done per the rule book. James should have protected his line instead of taking a break.

RV messed up, knows he messed up, was penalized for it and now we should move on. Haters are just hatin'!

So if you're disqualified for breaking a riders leg during the 1st part of the race. You are ALLOWED to race the restart according to you and still can manage to take a top 5 ...

There is only 1 thing I can say about you ...

And I’m like, whoa, well you’re restarting so start me now… so then they said okay, yeah, yeah, they must have mis-said what they were originally going to do, and ended up changing it. That was good because whatever happened during the race it’s not like I was stuck with winning and then getting docked. So that was good."
That is fuckin unbelievable....

Clearly being penalised at the start is no where near the same as being docked at the end

RV - Hey man, What the fuck?!

AMA guy - Yeah ok...

That just means they didn't engage the rules properly twice... pathetic...

RV won the race fair and square, NO! amount of whining on this Board is going to change a thing. If you don't like it, instead of watching the Daytona Supercross this Saturday, maybe you can catch an episode of Desperate Housewives instead, since Supercross gets your Panties in a BunchSmile

Ok what will the finishing order of the field be next week? Split seconds never matter in SX, right?
Just sayin, 3 laps after "the pass" RV had 3 1/2 seconds on JS.

And next week, I don't know the order, but it will start with RV 1st..

Sorry dude, but your logic is way off.

the point of the 3 spot penalty is the POINTS that are lost because of it. To assess the penalty at the restart no points are lost...if the assess it at the end of the race, he loses points.

He was the fastest guy on the track and was going to win...so to assess him a 3 position penalty at the restart didn't penalize him at all, it just gave him some passing practice. To assess him a 3 position penalty at the end of the race, means he only gets 4th place points, rather than 1st place points...and THAT is a penalty!

So, conceivably, if a rider jumps on a red cross in the future, his team mate can play hurt, get the race stopped so the offender can be penalized mid-race instead of post race?

Great precedent the AMA set with this oneWhistling

The AMA needed to set an example and dock RV three positions from the first infraction. Doesn't matter if its a RE-start, it's the same race. If they would've docked RV those three spots at the end of the race, there would be no more "grey" area and the riders would be a lot more concerned about the flags.

I said this previously in one of these stupid threads. How can the sport be safe when they don't follow the rules set forth to protect downed riders?

You can listen to it on the homepage. It's fragmented, but sounds a little less confusing there.

Yeah just listened... Really like that format btw...

I still think they should have just penalised him a position for each move at the end of the race, he ends up 3rd. Doing it on the restart is not really a penalty, it's a slight impedance, and not consistent to what they've done in the past. If they knew what consistency was tho they'd be on the way to learning about credibility.

I just posted on your FB, I think when you click back a slide, it starts another audio loop? felt like I was hearing double...?

the point of the 3 spot penalty is the POINTS that are lost because of it. To assess the penalty at the restart no points are lost...if the assess it at the end of the race, he loses points.

Bingo! Titan gets it right, why can't the AMA?

On a side note. If RV wins the title this year do we put a red flag next to his name?Pinch

I'm an RV fan but, the AMA clearly screwed up twice

RV passed between a red flag and the downed rider, there is no grey area there.

yep, lets keep this going shall we? idk what you saw the second time, but having a yellow WAVING and a red cross STATIONARY was the flaggers fault, not villopoto's. many of you would have done the same thing. he caught stewart napping and dove on it asap. next!

Maybe the officals need to review incidents after the race, and then hand down a penalty if one is warranted.

I don't believe RV's first penalty should have been enforced on the restart. Should have been enforced after the race was completed, unless it was a black flag situation.

Your scenerio is a bit exaggerated there, ass hat, and not what I said.

I said ESSENTIALLY it was like having 2 races.....not that they HAD 2 races. There was a restart that they assesed the penalty on and that was the correct thing to do. Had there been no restart then yes they could have assesed the penely then if there had been a penalty worthy of taking points. Predicting the future and what they might have done is a waste of time. . But since they had the restart that was the correct place and time to dock him.

Bottom line is RV was penelized for his actions and the fuckin' cry baby vitards (first time I ever used that) who seem to know more about racing, the rules and what the racers should have done, have their pantys in a bunch because RV has everyones #. Sad part is 1/2 of the whiners probably don't even ride. Shame
