Should have restarted in his current position and been docked 3 spots from his final finish........and Stewy wasn't just whining.....you could see by his body positioning that he wasn't in race mode in that section where RV passed him.

Honestly, who's to say that James might not have won that race......he did it a week ago...........moving RV back to 5th with his docked positions..........fair is fair right?

Actually Millsaps said Dungey doubled in the same spot under the same red cross flag......he wasn't penalized at all. And I'm sure they would have dq'd reed, canard, Barcia, or James. Funny.

^^^^^ I would bet the farm nothing happens. RV obviously has a get out of jail free pass this season. 20ft for jumping under red twice in the same race. AMA has never been strict with the money makers.

Lol, nice try, but I'm not going to be dragged into your little whine-fest. It wouldn't matter what anyone says no matter how well informed or race savvy, you guys would truly believe that you and only you are right.

Hey, your opinion is your right, who am I to piss on your parade? Tongue

I'd simply say a re-start means the race is not over.
Penalties should be handed out when the race is over. It's not a rider vs rider thing in my view and I'm open to others opinions.
Maybe you should stay away until wednesday like you said if you don't want to discuss things.

I think he and we all got lucky that they did it that way but if you guys still cant let it go start a seperate score card with him and a fourth place finish tonight and see how it plays in the end...I suspect it wont make much of a diff in the end

You are confusing what is going on here with an actual constructive discussion. If it was just that, I would have no problem participating.

Then why chime in at all?

It almost seems like a lot of posters(especially older ones) don't actually enjoy posting here anymore. They just have nothing better to do.
The entire notion of this board confuses me.

Just my opinion though.

I think the restart rule discusses finish place when race is stopped. This gave the AMA an option to penalize his race finish resaulting in a 6th place finish instead of the earned third. Lets say the moment he jumped they said 3 positions is the penalty and the race was not red flagged, stopped, finished whatever. he would have been moved from first to fourth. once they stopped the race they were faced with the question where did he finish in order for placement? third but he had a three position penalty on his back thus moving him to 6th. I think they chose the least championship invasive penalty for obvious reasons...no one wants a series decided that way. I think you all are being a bit harsh on the AMA.

Why? Because part of my job here is to wade through all the crap.

You are right, many of the older regular posters don't like to post here much, but it's not because they are bored or whatever, it's because there are so many repetitive threads, whiny threads, phishing threads, etc etc etc. If everyone would just step up their game a bit things would be much more fun around here.

Remember, quality, not quantity.

I understand the AMA's thinking, "hey we have a chance to penalize a rider mid-race let's do that now", but here's where the gum sticks to someone's shoe.

In all other cases the penalty would have been dealt at the end of the race, thus resulting in the rider being moved back three positions. We all know that.

By doing what they did during the red flag not only did they allow the rider to move only 20' back for those three positions, I believe it was quite a bit more of a distance during the green flag conditions, they usurped what they have always(as long as I've been around, damn near 50yrs) done thus compromising the integrity of the rule.

In the future I would like to see any infraction be imposed by having a rider pulled off to the side and held for a number of seconds according to the infraction during green flag conditions. Similar to a "drive through" penalty in most forms of racing.

So you don't like your job? Maybe it's time to move on to better things while the rest of us talk moto.

Please underline where I said I don't like my "job".

PS: this job is strictly volunteer. I receive no renumeration for my time. Perhaps it's time you move on to a better forum and let the rest of us talk moto?

I sometimes wonder if the AMA is scared to pull the trigger on penalties on high-profile riders, just because of the backlash that the team would give.

When I think of IndyCar or Nascar, everyone shuts the hell up and accepts what they did was wrong.

I feel like a lot of these guys do things because they know the AMA won't come down hard on them.

Honestly it's a bit fascinating to me when and why people decide to chime in on things. Some of it actually reminds me of when I first had to learn about Baye's Theorem. The amount of people that simply felt they actually HAD to comment on it with 5 letter sentences while producing nothing but negativity simple seemed astonishing to me.

I see that a lot here.

The AMA waffles more than JT$ on a Monday PulpMx show.
