Probably not. Even if he can do a short LCQ race, by the end of a 15 lap main he'll be laboring pretty hard and could be risking injury again.

Tonight after that fall from 15 feet in the air, a headstrike to the ground, and subsequent loss of consciousness? Sure, what's the problem?

I respect everybody's concern here and I too believe if you have a concussion you should be sat.

That being said, how do any of us KNOW he was out? because on TV he didn't move right away? I just have the utmost respect for Bodnar and crew. I have been attended to by them and watched them with many a rider.

I don't think they would miss anything or let him line up without absolutely feeling he was ok to do so.

I know I am in the minority, but since he was on the line, I feel he was fine. Especially after seeing him crash in the main, hitting his head again. If he was concussed before, no way does he get up and walk off again.

I am no doctor so medically I cannot say. If it was my team however, I would protect my rider and sit him to avoid injury and think long term not the here and now.

All the replays were in slow mo so it exaggerated the amount of time that he wasn't moving. I guarantee he got the wind knocked out of him and his first priority was breathing before moving.

When he crashed and I saw him motionless my heart sank. I'm not one to get really excited watching TV so it surprised my wife when I started yelling to red flag the race and get to the kid. I was stoked to see him up on his own, but racing a few minutes later? Not my call, but I sure hope he's allright. Talented kid.

The Asterisk guys were there in a few seconds. They know if he was unconscious or not and they wouldn't let him go back out there if he was - so it's reasonable to assume he wasn't. I've crashed hard like that and just laid there for a while taking inventory before I got up. It''s a shock reaction, but he was talking and apparently completely coherent when he got up, not wobbly or seemingly confused. He was OK.

So how many times have the medical crew actually prevented a rider from continuing?

He guarantee's that is what happened, just like you guys guarantee he was knocked out.

The truth of the matter is, he was attended to by professionals who deal with it week in and week out and was obviously cleared to line back up.

I am sure the medics, Mike Larocco (his team manager) and everybody around him made the decision to let him go.

Sure looked like he was knocked out cold for a bit. I was surprised when he came back and qualified but now that we watched him smack his head hard again it's easy to say he should have parked it for the night.

You really aren't too smart are you? Somehow that crash doesn't pass your eye test? The fucking kid fell 20 feet out of the air and snapped his head against the ground extremely hard.

Of course he was knocked out. I don't know how many head injuries you've had/seen people get but he had the classic head injury look on his face while riding off on the cart. Deer-in-the-headlights, wide eyed, obviously confused. There's no mistaking that look. Did you not notice how he was almost crying after the LCQ?

The Asterisk guys would have sat him down if he'd been unconscious and they were right there seconds after the crash. You know more from watching TV than a doctor does looking at the kid? "Of course he was out"? No. Of course he was NOT out. Doctors know what an unconscious rider looks like.

And I know of one case when Malcolm Stewart wouldn't go the Asterisk truck after a crash because he knew they'd sit him down because he was knocked goofy. The Asterisk guys are NOT going to let a rider go back out after a concussion.

Sure, it looked like he was out, but he clearly wasn't because trained medical people were looking at him and they said he was OK to ride. They wouldn't say that if he'd been unconscious, simple as that.

I realize that people are reacting to how bad the crash looked, but injury isn't proportional to how spectacular a crash is. I've seen hundreds of Nascar wrecks that looked many times worse than Dale Earnharts' was at Daytona - and Earnhart was dead in the car before it stopped sliding.

You guys are fucking ridiculous. I don't need to be a doctor to know what an unconscious rider looks like.

I'm almost certain Asterik doesn't have the power to force a rider to sit out, so it doesn't really matter what they say.

They not only have the power, they'll do it. It's in their rules. That's why riders avoid them when they've hit their heads sometimes.

You don't know as much about it watching on TV as a doctor does standing next to the guy 15 seconds after he hit the ground.

One other thing - Asterisk can refuse to clear the rider to race, and they can also tell his team that he can't race. Do you think Mike Larocco would let him go back out there if Doc Bodner wouldn't clear him to ride?

The kid was OK. Yeah, it's a minor miracle, but that's what happened. And then he went out and won the LCQ.

Right, because none of those people have any pressure on them at all. They are all completely removed from the situation and don't have to answer to companies who spend millions of dollars to see their team's racers out there.

Please.

it's amazing to me,

I didn't know we had a bunch of doctors on Vital that were able to asses Zach after the crash.

Maybe we should just keep the doctors at the race at home to watch it on TV. Some obviously know more from here, then they do there.

Would save a lot of money, maybe we can put that money towards the riders' purse?

You truly don't know Bodnar or any on that crew, They aren;t doing it for the money but mostly for the love of the sport and are VERY good at what they do.

nobody, is going to turn a blind eye. They absolutely have the power to sit someone if need be.

TO EVEN THINK they makes decisions based on pressure or having to answer to companies is comical at best.

One day we, or some other people, will look back on this situation (or perhaps others like it) and come to the conclusion that we got it wrong.
