That TwoTwo spool set up is pretty trick; it must have a crazy fast return for it not to get caught up in something it shouldn't when the fork is compact.

How does it work? The spool set up on the fork is self-explanatory, I'm confused how the shock piece works.

either it pushes into or past something that reads it's movement, the string one is crazy. doesn't seem like it'd be the best way but they've had to have tried several versions.

I made a small bracket for Dave'O, a potentiometer mount. Don't see it on there though.

I'm always impressed at how well Reedy's Fox boots match all of his outfits. He has the PERFECT colors (see TripleFive's second photo in this thread), even when everyone else is having a hard time getting their hands on one regular pair! I love a lot of the other new gear out there, including the new 7 stuff, but I think Reed always has the total package dialed.

Yes, but all I got was a CAD file from Sergio, and a threaded mount description from Mike. The bracket holds a small threaded post that has a ball on the end to mount the transducer (one end). On a lot of work I do, I only see a drawing for the part of the job I'm doing. That way, one person can't spill the beans about the job they're working on Tongue .

Yes, most likely a LVDT. A magnetic core rides on the moving shaft/rod inside of a coil assembly (primary and secondary windings). Based on the position of the core, the output voltage in the coil assembly secondary winding varies wrt the input voltage. The system needs to be calibrated to map output V vs. position.

Since position/displacement mean nothing to the world of shock absorbers (barring no internal position sensative passages in the shock body), the data needs to be differentiated wrt time to obtain shaft speed.

are they on a network or direct signal ? either could be intercepted but i wouldn't freak out about it.

no teams going to find another 10hp from copying someones fuel mapping.

That's the data logging headquarters. I'm not sure if they're reading real time telemetry. They most likely are downloading the data between practices.

I'm not sure, I was doing a little preliminary work on this a couple of years ago, but stopped research when the team got factory bikes. All I know is the software is proprietary and you just use a laptop on the side of the track. I'd be more interested in the suspension data anyway. But I suppose if you don't know the valving............

String potentiometers are really common in the DAQ world. I am really shocked they are getting this to reliably work with travel speeds as high as they are in SX/MX. String pots don't like high speeds. An optical sensor would work great here....

Their rear suspension kit is overkill. A small rotary pot on the swingarm pivot would be way more reliable and accurate.

At least some teams are FINALLY using data in motocross. Now they need to prove they are smart enough to do anything with it and not just a bunch of glorified mechanics trying to act smart by throwing data at the equation....
