I got nothing against ATV guys as long as they don't ride the same track I am. It ruins every single line on the track.

AND....comparing lap times to the top pro in MX to ATV.....does not work. Even though some ATV guys tell you it's rough.....it is NOT MX rough! Go ride a track that ATV's have been on all day....on your bike.....it is like pavement compared to what Bikes do to the track.

I give the fast ATV guys prop's for their speed......but they are NOT riding the same surface as a full blown MX track. Go watch some of the Youtube vids on Pro ATV rounds.......then comp[are the surface to what a Pro MX round has to deal with.

Apples and oranges.

The problem is not the sport itself, but the people it attracts. In this case, both pretty much gather to the same crowd. I'm talking about the kind that hangs out in sand pits drinking beer between drag races and such. There are definitely more of those with quads than bikes, and those with bikes are more of the FMX kind.

The Baja 1000 is a good, even playing field to measure the two. I don't recall the ATV's ever winning that event. Correct me if I'm wrong. In fact, I think bikes win it the majority of times, and have won something like the last 9 of 10 Baja races overall.

Oh, I don't really care one way or the other about ATV's. It's your freedom of choice. I don't even mind them on the local MX tracks. I don't, however, like them on the track at the same time as the bikes....they're a pain in the ass to pass, and they can be very dangerous to the bikes.

I think he meant 4 inch braking bumps and I am feeling very generous so I will call it 4 1/2 inch bumps in that video. The whoops weren't even that deep. The implication that these things are faster than bikes leaves me wondering if getting jerked around by lawn equipment all day might lead to brain damage. Laughing

lol, my patrons are your patrons. we race the same tracks, buy parts from the same mfgs and distributors, wear the same gear and helmets. shits silly to me really.

any "quad only" drinking fountains around here? I'm thirsty lol

I was young once, and when I was, I thought I might want a quad. Concerned, my Dad explained a few things to me. That was the day I realized I'm heterosexual.

what i hate most about quads is when you are out in the desert...and the closest camp to you had 1 banshee, but like 15 people camping there...and they all take turns ripping sick donuts right next to camp....all day....over and over.....you don't see many groups of people showing up to the desert with 1 mx bike....jussayin.

i have never seen a quad at any of our local tracks..not sure if nobody rides them or they are not allowed?..i have to say i watch the atv gncc series and those guys fly offroad...

fmx is worse to me... especially the guys that can barley negotiate the berm leading up to the ramp but they can backflip haha

i have a couple threewheelers (70 and 110) for roosting the driveway so maybe im impartial..

Using ATV a total of 5 times in the lifetime of your account here should block your account automatically. ATV MX is so much worse than FMX. They ruin tracks, usually have mullets, and roll around the track. Yeah yeah yeah not every quad rider rolls every jump, well I got new for yeah, not every chicken lays an egg, just 99.9% of them.

FMXers have their ramps and free ride spots so we don't have to cross paths with them.

ATV riders on the other hand want to be cut loose on MX tracks where they destroy the ruts and berms. Ergo, ATVs are WAY worse.

Trying to convince the 2-wheeled crowd how fast you are on an ATV or how difficult it is to ride one, or how physically demanding it is just fuels the anti-atv sentiment. It's totally futile.

And for the record, I don't hate ATVers but I do hate what they do to MX tracks.

I remember reading a Tyla Rattray interview shortly after he moved to the states. He said that when practicing at Glen Helen, some of the quads were only 4 seconds a lap slower than him.

It is true that quads can destroy the two wheeler lines and are a hazard to the bikes if on the track at the same time. However, they usually have their own, separate events down here these days, so I don't really have any issues with them. It pisses me off when I catch some obnoxious, quad riding, asshole on the trails who is taking up the whole track and won't let me by, though.

I think most freestylers are douche bags, but they don't do me any harm. I can't say I have any problem with them either.
