The announcers need some work.

Not one mention of Ralph's line when they came back to do the 450 podium interviews?

I don't know about you, but I have never heard Erin "announce" a race. She is someone the follows the pit stories, and does a good job in my opinion.
I was talking about the broadcast in general.

I am NOT a hater but really enjoy announcer blunders for the comedic value. That being said, here are 5 gems I caught from the night:
(and yes I'm tracking it on my iPhone now for the complete series haha)

SX 2013 A1 announcing blunders
1) "what it's take" -RC
2) "It's not only physical its Mentical" - RC
3) "... the level has Escuuulated" -RC
4) "Chad Reed knows this track inside and out and the changes are so significant that he decided to go with the same set up and only change his mental attitude."  - Erin Bates
5) "it is so important to Preperate" --RC

Haha

i love RC but i wish he would just relax when it's his turn to speak.

thinking of most sports, there are 2 man coverage crews and those 2 men should be ralph and emig.

either that, or this guy and emig.

They're supposed to just cover what they're watching on the monitors but I heard Ricky break that rule more than a couple times. There's a weird tension between RC and Emig too. It seems like Ricky is trying to make him look dumb. Like when he scoffed at Emig for giving a "politically correct" response.

Well... Most bigtime motorsports here have 3. 2 guys who've been there, done that, and a pro announcer.
Speed is just using the same template that worked so well for them in F1, and NASCAR.

uhhh,

By our sports definition. Davi is a privateer. I know to you or I, we wouldn't consider him privateer. But just because you pit out of a semi, does not mean you aren't one.

Plenty of riders n the past won privateer of the year award racing on a team with a semi.

thats weird... i always thought a privateer paid for entry fees,parts,uniform,bike,gas,helmet,etc... out of their own pocket....thats not correct?..

Yeah I just watched it. It's worse than ever before.

Don't me wrong Jeff is a cool dude, I don't know about RC but...

I have a theory that RC and FRO are nervous to say the wrong thing along the lines of sponsorship deals. RC with his new team and FRO entrenched at Kawi, I don't think they know how to commentate like a normal human because their afraid to step on toes. You know Fro is always nervous to say to much about Kawi, and visa versa.

And RC, come on! You can talk about your new team during the race, you won't get in trouble I promise! It's an elephant in the room that's super lame.

They're trying to walk this politically correct line that they are obviously not comfortable with .They're not saying what they really think, then comes the MIND PUMP.

Thanks Feld.

As the sport grew so did the definition of a privateer.

The grey area got really thick because even if you have some sponsors or a ride in a semi or even get paid..... That doesn't mean you don't pay your own entry or have to pay your own gas or helmet or travel, hotels, food..... It got real murky there for a while when the top privateer got paid a substantial amount of cash.

I think Davi said something important in one of his interviews. He said that they didn't have to wait for Japan to make changes to the bike. If Japan AKA the factory is in charge then you are a factory rider. Although, I'm sure there are a few teams like Reed's where the line is blurry.

Yes, the line has been blurred as to what a privateer is these days. In a simpler time it was fairly easy to define who was, or wasn't a privateer.

I hate it when they go to a replay and then you can hear the crowd going wild and you know something big just happened on the track but you're still stuck watching the flipping replay!

Other than that I was happy with the coverage. I dont mind it when they go back and show riders like Reed in 5th place if the leader is 20 seconds in front of the 2nd place guy but when the riders at the front are running as close as they were, I want the camera to be fixed firmly on them.

I couldn't agree more! I think RC went to the Jethro Bodine school of broadcasting, It's EMBARRASSING!! He was a great racer on the track, but he's TERRIBLE in the booth!!! Replace him with Barnett, that guy was great!!!!

Personally, I could give a crap about what they discuss. I can use a good chuckle once in awhile. Hell, put Bob Goldwaith in there, for all I care. I'd rather see more money be put into getting better video coverage so we get to see more racing and don't miss key events (like passing).

I don't mind the grammatical and personalities they have. I just want more information and insight. I am watching the same broadcast as them and I can't believe they are not mentioning some of the things I am seeing. Instead they are mentioning how Emig used to take people out back in the day.

They have to fill us in a little better with what's going on outside the camera work because we can all tell what the fudge is happening right in front of us. There are 20 riders and I don't mind them following the leaders but give me some history on some other people and what they did that lap or what's going on with them. I was really interested on what was going on with Blake Bagget but they didn't say anything.

After two weeks you guys would all be bitching about him as well. I'm just happy it's on live. Ralph does a good job in my opinion and Fro has improved immensly over the last couple of years. RC needs some work but I enjoy listening to him. Although I do cringe when he says "I seen that". My wife just shakes her head.

Well, I can 100% guarantee that people will still be bitching about Ricky in two weeks. Please SPEED, pull the plug on RC!

No, he wouldn't. Carmichael and Emig pretty much walk through the basics, and they do an ok job of it. Ever listen to a pro NFL game? Their announcers communicate even less to their fan-base, and that sport is absolutely huge, especially when compared to SX.

Since RC gets to wear that Monster "M" pin on his lapel, why doesn't RS wear McDonald's golden arches pin on his and Fro rock a Kawasaki headband?
How does that work? Does ANY other sport allow the network announcers to openly plug corporate sponsors while on the air? Is Monster paying Speed for the airtime/exposure? What do the Rockstar people think about it?

"preperate" I think everybody did a Huh when he said that! Love it when people invent words on the spot, that's a special skill right there! Laughing
