Ryan Morais

Family, Friends, and Fans,

It is time for me to announce my retirement as a professional motocross racer. The opportunity to be a professional racer over the last 10 years has been an incredible journey. I would like to thank my family, friends, sponsors and fans for all of the support, encouragement and love that I have received over the years. Now that I am putting up my boots, I am excited to focus on the next chapter in my life. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I get to announce I will be the Star Racing Yamaha’s Team manager, test rider and rider coach. I look forward to seeing you all at the races!

Fair play. Glad he's landed in a (another) job he loves.

I think he said he was going to try and make a come back and he wasnt done racing..guess he changed his mind.

having a career in MX that spans 10 years is pretty damn impressive considering how many get spit out after a year or two on the circuit.

good for him!

I'm bummed he wasn't able to make that comeback but at the same time, this doesn't surprise me one bit. He was always one of the those guys who was always kind of on the bubble. Whenever we would wait for him to get a win, he couldn't quite get there and then in SX this year, we would think he could be maybe top 10. Again, he came close but didn't quite get there. And of course after LA, it was time. His body got completely wadded up, more than Trey even in the sense that he just bounced and hit the ground twice after jumping out of a three-story building to....well, pretty much every part of his body. I always had alot of respect for him and he's a really nice guy, but I'm glad he has something else to do. I think it's a good thing too because, knowing that he has a wife and little guy at home, it has to be hard on them all when something like that happens. You have to stop putting yourself in that position at that point. My dad and I have talked about this before and we think that might be a reason why K-Dub will decide to hang it up.

Why do you think KW is in the process of "Hanging it up" ??

He isn't....and has said multiple times he will finish his career in 2016 ( 20yr mark )....He's healthy and loves the sport and has no reason "health wise ) to step away now. As for Ryan....I am happy he made his decision , and wish him good luck on his new venture. But KW?.........I'm sorry but the fat lady aint singing. And won't be for another 3yrs.

I honestly don't know. He's taken a couple of hard hits the past couple of years and he's not the kind of guy who will have his career ending because of a crash. Kevin's smart and he'll decide when it's best to step away. Don't take this as disrespect to Kevin because I'm a huge fan, like everyone else, and I really hope he does make it to 2016 or whenever he does end up hanging it up. Of course, according to him via Twitter, now that he's trashed the Bubba Scrub, he'll be around for about another 10 ten years or so. Woohoo

It may have not been "official" but what was stated 4 months ago is exactly what happened... I wasn't bashing you, just saying I thought I'd seen it before.
