Let's ask this; let's say 5 dollars was added to the price of every Supercross tickets and that money went straight to the riders for some sort of fund ,who here would have a problem with that?

You should sell your gear at cost because you are over charging the racers... Help fix the problem by helping them spend less on equipment in return will keep more money in their pocket.

Your very easy way? You assume people will pay the extra no problem. In case you haven't realized this our country is a world of fucking hurt and it is getting worse day by day. Maybe if you watched something other than this board you would have a clue on the fiscal cliff and what companies are doing to prepare. But let's say the people ( You and I) pay it. How do you know that their insurance or rent or anything else isn't going to increase for 2013...like say by a $ or $$ or $$$$? You don't. We do know that there is a pay disparity amongst the riders.

We do know the riders risk their lives infinitely more than Felds other shows. (Monster Trucks, Fmx)

We do know the other moto show Feld puts on (Nuclear Cowboys) pays EVERY rider participating in the show.

We do know that without the riders SX would be nothing.

If Feld had some social responsibility they would sort out a descent minimum payment for those that make the night show..


WHY DONT DAVE PRATER AND TODD JENDRO come on here and voice their opinion? They run the show, go straight to the top..

Yes they risk their lives and they race knowing full well what the risks are.
I don't know that all of them get paid but maybe when they set that up they negotiated that...how much do they pay every rider? I know nothing about Nuclear Cowboys but do they all make the same amount?
Yes SX would be nothing without the riders....what would the riders do without SX?
Doesn't everyone get paid if they make the night show? What is decent pay for 2 practices and at least a 10 minute race?

FYI monster trucks make more than sx and they have economies of scale because they can use the same dirt / stadium the next week for the other show... there is NO FUCKING WAY they are not making bank.

Nope I am neither. I am just a guy that can see the forest through the trees. I am passionate about finding out the finances that all of those in the know know. velocity says they are making bank as are you, well prove it. Do we just go on your word? Who are you? Again for the really slow people, I did NOT say they weren't making money. If they weren't making money they would probably close fucking shop. See genius's that's how it works in the real business world. Companies that are successful stay open, companies that aren't, close. Economics 101. Hell even the home schooled racers probably get that concept.

Imo hepler retired because of the injuries. I remember how his family let him live a somewhat normal life, even being a top amateur. They pushed him with his education and to have a normal life even while being a top amateur. I think it was DC or racer x that said families with thoughts of going pro should watch how the Hepler family operated when broc was amateur.
Also, this episode had me thinking of the 18 year old age rule, that was shelved before it even had a chance. 18 to turn pro would allow these kids to finnish basic school and to mature a little more. I think this would help them in the long run.

Yeh they all took a risk and are struggling to make ends meet let's tell those ppl who are atleast making ends meet by just a strand to take another risk and boycott feld and not race and not get paid for a substantial amount of time not knowing if they willgt anything better. This is an approximation how small the sign is that racing does not pay, since the start.


This isn't like human trafficking or even WalMart employees who are hired employees. These guys are contractual athletes based on performance and winning. No wins = no pay. It sucks yes. Parents whom should know better put the kids in the middle of this when they should also recognize education is more important. They don't so here we are. It is up to the parents to look out for their children. Allow me to remind everyone, our own sport has done this to itself. How early can kids start racing and under some sort of contract? 65cc's? I have been saying it for years. There is no Amateur in amateur racing.

No, you have shown a way to spend other peoples money. Would I pay $5 more so the riders get more? Nope. I have done my part to support racers and racing. From 1976 on I have bought 26 brand new motocross bikes and for every one of those bikes I have bought tires top ends chains sprockets etc etc , I have also bought Helmets boots pants goggles etc etc. Then there are AMA cards SRAC cards GNC, NMA , RMXA etc cards and then entry fees etc etc. I even won a few bucks here and there but I bet I am still in the hole about 150K over 35 years and the reason I never made any money was I JUST WASNT GOOD ENOUGH plain and simple.

That is the most vitarded thing I have read. Name any other sport where only the top 5 make money? Name another sport that is as dangerous as moto? These guys are way underpaid period....

Maybe I should not have said riders union. They need somebody or organization to represent them before they throw their leg over the bike without insurance and with some kind of compensation for being the show. The riders need to come together before the racing begins. Yes, Jeremy might have been able to get it done...But ? that time has passed.

Lets be a part of the solution, not the problem. Maybe Racerx,Transworld, Motocross action have something to say?

Everyone is making moneyf they get into money paying positions 1st 2nd 3rd etc.. but the top 5 should make WAY more than a 10th place guy. For example... Boxing... When mayweather fought Ortiz he was guaranteed 25mil win lose or draw. Ortiz was guaranteed 2mil... The best get paid the best. Period. No need to feel sorry for Ortiz cuz he worked his ass off for that fight. Oh well he's not the best. The best get paid well for entertaining the fans of the sport... Not the guys in 15th place. And it will always be that way. And should. If you want more money in a 9-5 you do a better job and prove to your employer your worthy of a raise. Bitching won't get you a raise. It might actually get you laid off in the real world.

I always have thought a Riders Union would be good for the sport, Having said that, given the way contracts are treated and so easily thrown out and with teams that come and go on a whim it would make for some tough negotiating. It's a shame that such an awesome sport is such a circus act at the top level.
IMHO any rider that qualifies for a National shouldn't be struggling to get to the next event or worse yet passing the hat for medical.

All the pros would be making more money if the OEM's sold more than 65k dirt bike units a year. When they sold a million dirt units a year, all the OEM teams had 5-6 racers each and they all made good money. The sport has essentially killed itself with what everyone perceives as progress.
