Over on the MN site I think it was bauer that had some pictures of Rocky and Davey Williams. Rocky was at a supercross last year and actually logged on and showed some pictures of him on his Harley.

Over on the MN site I think it was bauer that had some pictures of Rocky and Davey Williams. Rocky was at a supercross last year and actually logged on and showed some pictures of him on his Harley.
Rocky was Gaylon Mosier's mechanic back in the day. A couple of others you didn't mention was Cliff Lett who was a good racer (almost won the #1 plate CMC 125) and a good mechanic ( I believe he turned wrenches for Rick Johnson at Yamaha). And then Gary Denton who was a 125 specialist before he went quad racing.

Rocky was Gaylon Mosier's mechanic back in the day. Ya I was on the starting gate for my moto & when I came back the cops were hualing Greg off & going trough my tool box Looking for the Crescent wrench!

I like what the heck is going on? I didn't even know what happened until later! But I did see Rex do the same thing in practice!

We all had some good times, no doubt about it. I remember one parent at a riders meeting at CMC complaining to Stu about no beginner class. Stu said CMC has a junior class, intermediate and pro class. The parent said his son isn't fast enough to compete in the junior class. Stu said with a grin..... his options were to follow and learn, or go learn somewhere else!

Remember how we use to have to mail in our entries each week? If you wanted to know how you did, they mailed you the results. Trophy pick up was the following week? Top 100 numbers, colored number plates,,,,, tech inspection (kill switch, bailing wire, silencer!)

I had an annual pass at saddleback (still have it somewhere) $65 unlimited use including race day for gate fee.

Always started 3 from the left at saddleback. You had to get there early for that spot.

Good times indeed.

Lett might have been after my time. Denton was sure in the game.

Rocky was a great guy. For those that first met him, might have thought he didn't know his stuff because he would try to talk and get louder and louder..... he had it going. I use to enjoy watching Mosier wheelie all the way up saddleback's start and then come back down the same.

I remember siting in the pits with Hannah, when Hannah was a R&D rider with Suzuki on a Saturday Moto day. He had the standard white chevy van issued by suzuki. A big box van pulled in the pits and Hannah says to me...... "Man that guy must be fast in order to pay for that thing........." The funny thing is....he was serious. Bob was so simple until the gate dropped. (I think it was Baron or Gillman...not sure) Fly Navy written all over it. This would have been Mike Gillman)

I said to him (at the time, they would combine the intermediates with the pros on Saturday) You lap me so quick.... and he said it is all racing. He said he tries to even lap second if he has a chance....he told me your game is ride as fast as you can to keep me from lapping you!

Bob would never touch Banzai until the very bottom. Pierre Karsmaker was there one practice day (then honda) and they opened up Banzai for practice. Pierre watched Hannah (then yamaha) and said the guy was nuts. At the time everyone was getting about 3/4's down before touching.

chris heiser used to live down the street from me and would ride by my house almost daily as he headed into the hills to ride. his dog metzer trailing behind a few minutes. wonder what hes doing, no, i wonder what his hott-ass sister courtney is doing hehe

I remember her when she would walk around the pits with her little shorts on and stand by the starting line and cause everyone to lose concentration.

xnational wrench..... I read your profile, what era were you tuning for Ron T? I knew him more around his Suzuki test rider days and FMF I guess that would have been 75 - 77, 1977 #15 on the bike.... I believe Smoked everyone at the Golden State Series at Saddleback all three classes that day.

Was a big CMC racer, Saddleback, Carlsbad, and Irwindale. Hung around a bit with Greg Smith, Mosier, Val Talmetti (sp) Thought the last name was Shipley......

That wasn't me. That was at a AMA pro non-national race in Florida between Nationals and the mechanic's area was just in front of the finish line. Gary smoked the class and stopped and picked up his his mechanic and rode across the finish line and back to the pits. He found out later he got DQ'ed for outside assistance. He did try to get it changed and the they did from outside assistance to endanging his mechanic and they still DQ him. Glad I wasn't there for that. It was pretty common for Gary to stop and give his mechanic a ride back to the pits, but that time they got him for being a nice guy.

I was at that race...500 national with 125 support class. i knew gary ok from hanging out with him and his mech at the 500 125 support races. he was super friendly and a regular dude.
