I think I remember the place you are talking about. Didn't they have this trail that ran
around the perimeter? Long straights and all of it covered by trees? If it's the one
I'm thinking about, you turned right on a road off of Atlantic Blvd heading East, right
before the intercoastal waterway bridge. I remember them having rentals, but I don't
remember them being Hodakas. Also the shop you mentioned, was it located in a
strip mall on Atlantic Blvd. close to Aqua East? If that's the one, I ended up getting
some of my parts there, and from another shop on the Westside near NAS. That's
the one I got my one down four up conversion kit.

Jimmy was taken by ambulance to our local hospital there in Clewiston and on the advice of many of us that lived there Jimmy's dad would not let them touch his injuries and had him flown out via helicopter to either WPB or Ft Myers, can't remember which.
Very bad day...

Do you know if he continued racing afterwards? I can't recall seeing him race anywhere local after that awful day. But I stopped following the mx scene around 78' and began drag racing 4 wheeled vehicles until 90' when it finally got too expensive for me.
I am sure I remember you guys also.
Jim Marchant is out here also. He raced with us back in the day in Florida. We both rode the Vegas to Reno race last summer. Three man team and about 500 miles. Took us just under 13 hours.

I'm not sure if he did or not to be honest, though it seems like he hung it up after that. I wasn't actually at the hospital, but I remember hearing that it got pretty ugly. His Dad wanted him evacuated, the hospital wouldn't even administer pain medication unless he was admitted, something like that.
A trumatic experience like that would be hard to rebound from, you know. But again, I'm not really sure and if anyone has some more accurate information I'd be interested in hearing it too.

Not sure if Kippy Pierce ever raced Sprints though . His dad raced modifieds back in the 60's and 70's.
Any chance you were thinking of Kip Beard ? His dad Clyde beard was the race photographer for many years at Sunshine.
He raced 3/4 midgets , then Sprints ,and then USAC Sprints in the 90's.
Some people may not know it but... Randy Yoho even raced stock cars one season at the Tampa Fairgrounds.
Stan Yabczanka , his one time rival at the old confederate raceway (dade city) was his crew chief.
Great to see your post.
