'81 and '82 were 125/250 nationals. '83 was a 125/250/500 national. Could have been the '81 national when Jeff and I were in the qualifier together. Here is a shot of the LCQ of the '82 250 national. Clint Hardick #64 with the holeshot, Ross Pederson from Canada on the #54. I'm on the inside of the first turn on the Honda #804.
The Shop
Yep....still in the motorcycle biz....Parts Unlimited District Manager in the Houston area for the past 24 years.
Also an AMA promoter. I put on the biggest night series in Texas, The Main Event Series. This year is my 7th for the series.
Been teaching motocross lessons on and off for the past 20 years or so.
How 'bout you?
I assume TR is Tucker-Rocky? My father, Rick Hampson was the GA rep for TR from ~85 until he passed in ~97....he was top rep for TR for many years....usually in close competition with the FL rep. Funny story....one year in the early 90's, the FL rep lost total revenue to dad (and the bet they had) and had to carry him to the podium to get the award.
We partially owned, then wholly owned, Motocross Park South in Franklin GA up until the late 70's. I raced starting at age 7 in '71 thru ~'78 until they shut down...then got into hair-scrambles and enduros until I lost interest in late highschool. I remember racing against Billy Liles, Ben Bishop, David Kennedy and John Blackstock...but never made it big like most of you-guys! Those were the days... :-)
