Yeah, I know it's late, but I've been busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. Vegas kicked my ass, as usual, but it was a good time. Here's some notes from my weekend:
Random stuff:
-Stayed at the Rio this year. Normally stay at MGM or occasionally at Hard Rock. Rio is pretty kick-ass. Clean, modern, great restaurants & bars, little less busy than MBM or HR, & they have free shuttles to the strip. I'll stay here again.
-Fremont Street is a freak show of the highest caliber. Had a blast people watching & killing brain cells. And the drinks are about 1/2 price of what you pay on the Strip.
-I ain't as good as I once was. Especially in the liver area. My brain is finally coming back around, but my liver has filed for divorce on the grounds of cruel & unusual punishment. Those frozen slush-drink-things are the devil. Then again, they may be the greatest creation since fake boobs.
-Vegas taxi drivers are a strange breed.
-Cheap flights via Allegiant Air > 5 hour drive
Random Race day stuff:
-Monster knows how to throw a pit party! Not huge into drifting, but those dudes are nuts & highly talented. Seeing a full blown desert race truck w/40" tires fly around that drift course was pretty awesome. Ken Block is a nut case. Seeing the Mustang, Focus, & desert truck go at it all at once was epic. Even the freestyle guys got into the act & put on a good show.
-I thought the MEC track last year was cooler, but this one as pretty damn cool. The Joker lane helped the racing.
-Split starts are scary to watch. Very surprised we didn't see any head-on collisions. A couple were close.
-Supercross needs a joker lane
-Worst announcing ever. And I mean ever. I'd rather have Terry Boyd follow me & give narrative on my every move for a month than listen to those r-tards for one more minute. And I hate Terry Boyd. I hate him like I hate the Clap. And I really, really hate the Clap. Bring in the DMXS crew! Bring back DB & ANYONE else! Bring back Larry Huffman! Bring in Larry the Cable guy with Vanilla Ice, I don't care, just don't, DO NOT bring back those assclowns ever again! The big-watch having, flat-bill wearing, tattoo-sleeved 40-something guy should be ashamed. And barred from ever announcing again. And tarred & feathered. Douche-tastic.
-PA was about 40 decibels higher than it needed to be, making the horrible announcing even worse.
-I dunno if I'm just getting cranky in my old age or what, but the crowd seemed even more bro-ified & white trash than ever. That being said, there were a lot of hot chicks. Thank God for the sluts.
-Barcia & Tomac are for real. Well done by both youngsters
-They didn't show it very well on TV, but RC riding a lap before the races, all mic'd up, was fricken awesome.
-The announcing was horrible. All day, and all night. Just thought I'd mention that again, in case you missed it.
-The young kids racing were nuts. Dangerous, sure, but what isn't these days? I wouldn't let my kid do it, but the racing was good.
-Not sure I believe Dungey had two different incidents. Tough luck for the kid, either way. RV too.
-Thought sure I was gonna see a take-out fest when Barcia & Alessi were going at it. Good to both of them for not taking each other out.
-Barcia = modern day Hannah
-Ciancirillo & Webb are gonna be good when they go pro. A couple others too, but I don't remember the names.
-Good to see GuyB & talk for a bit. Crazy what this thing has become for him. Good stuff.
-The announcing was the worst I've ever heard at any event I've ever been to. They sucked like Richard Simmons in a dick tree. Next year, I'll take ear plugs & shooting ear muffs. And probably an Ice Pick, to puncture my own ear drums, in case that doesn't work.
-There's other stuff I'm forgetting. Blame it on the Al-al-al-al-al-alcohol...or some such sh!t like that.
Good times...//TJ

They just need to build a high berm or wall so that the 2 sides meet further down the straight.

The racing? Epic! I think that event eclipsed most of the supercross's I've ever been to( and I've been to alot of SX's) It's at least even with A-1 but the parking lot show took it to the next level.
Wish I would've seen more M-drivers there.
Fremont is like that every day of the year. It is the default place to party.
Great report, TJ. I'm coming down for PHX SX, prepare the finest beers and pies.
