His shoulder plate ?
It was not a problem one week before the last GP (remember his podium in Italy where CP was the fastest...), so...
His motivation in Germany ?
The fact that he has not a deal for 2013 should have be motivation for him (despite the fact no factory team in MX1 want an « unmanageable rider » - inside info)...
His « team » ?
All the whole season he said that the bike was great, everybody did a great job, etc........exept for the last GP.....About Luisetti interviews, well, on one hand you can hear the « political declarations », on the other hand there're the real feelings....
I am not 100% sure you read what I wrote: "Thirdly, he messed up the quali, finishing 15th after a poor start on a 1 line track where we did not see many overtakes all week end long. On this track, the grid is very important, so again from his place on the starting grid he did not make great starts, then the track was still 1 line. In the end, Paulin scored 34 points, CP only 25, but remember that last year he DNF/DNF so it is still much better. He (and his bro) likes more the track in Italy, for instance the team CP377 was 1 and 2 after the quali, not 15 and 16. Anyway we can talk hours, do you score 25 points in a GP to understand what it takes to do so?
"All the whole season he said that the bike was great, everybody did a great job, etc........exept for the last GP": can you bring the interview, and even if it is the case, are all the top riders always satisfied with their set up? I mean, I also hear a lot of "we will do a couple changes etc", so the rider is not 100% satisfied. I rather having that, because there is always room for improvement to gain .1 a second, and at this level it is what makes the difference. The ones who finish 5th with the happy smile should get much more frustrated than that if they want to win, they do not question themselves enough or are not here to make the necessary to win. To recap, when Dungey says he will do a couple changes (which is professional), are there 4 pages to extrapolate that he is a diva?
Based on CP's pedigree, which takes more attention than any french riders, but also some career decisions or the fact he usually prefer to stay focus on racing à la Tortelli or train differently with more technic and balance, for sure there is always someone unhappy. If there are people in the pits so happy to gooship like girls coming with the super scoop whereas they have no clue about it, then nobody except a lawyer will stop them to call him an « unmanageable rider », he has been Factory Kawi then Pro Circuit both in the US and in Europe, not them, and he won 3 titles and many races both in GP and in the US. Instead of trying to bash you should have a bit more respect, who are you anyway?

Just to show an example that he is still one of the best talents in 2012? Ok it is in mud conditions, we can select many other races too, but check that RC style ride. I do not remind many races where a rider put 3 minutes on Cairoli, but also 1 minute and 30 seconds to the second. http://www.motocrossmx1.com/reslists.aspx

I don't understand why do you compare Ryan Dungey to CP377....well, I'm not sure it's the right example...
RD.5 is 100% dedicated to his sport, his job, and he's always very professional with the sponsors, available with the fans, and so on...
You can't say the same for CP...
I should insist with what I wrote: "If team managers cannot handle calibers like JS7, RD5, RV2, CR22, AC222, TC41, JB51, DV15, CP, MM25, KR94, ET17, CD25 and GP21, that is their problem, their job is to make the sponsors win races, and they should be fired by the Chairman and CEO if they do not."
Business is not friendly and only the result counts, including in MX/SX.
Business is not friendly and only the result counts, including in MX/SX."
For me RD5 and CP377 can be compared: CP377 gave RD5 a good run, races/lap times is not blabla, intox, or gossip, that proves CP377 is "100% dedicated to his sport, his job". RD5 is always very professional with the sponsors, true but also maybe because DeCoster manage him perfectly and give what a top rider needs to win, stability is part of that. Yourself, have you been super pumped the last day of work with 1 employer when you know you will go to the job center the next day? Try to have a bit of psychology. "available with the fans, and so on...": maybe he rather stay focus the day of racing, to win races instead of doing blabla to end up 5th with a big smile, maybe he selects more his interviewers since some french press published sentences he has never said, but you cannot say he hasn't always attended the press day, thanks his sponsors on the podiums, and is for instance available to his fans on the Charity days. Those are facts, not gossip.
Ok that did not work in the silly season for 2011, but still CP is one of the greatest at managing communication: there is suspense, he does not show his cards, can keep it vague enough for everyone to speculate, etc. I would clearly be happy to know him already signed with KTM for 2013, while he is doing like there is no great deal for him so he is riding a stock 350. There is already a buzz right now, but what a media buzz it would be to finally see him at A1!
Anyway there is no need to get angry and debate hours, I am just rooting to see a great show in 2013, super stacked championships with multiple winners, battles, drama, come backs, etc like the SX 450 2011, in addition to the fact that his results prove he is the most capable frenchy/euro to be able to race upfront in the US. My opinion is that based on his results/lap times/talent he should be part of the show.
You can try a comparison between RD5 and CP377, about professional attitude, but too bad for CP....(I'm sorry but they're so different...)
You mention « stability », I totally agree.
RD.5 has always been the same with his two factory teams (Suzuki and KTM), with or without Roger De Coster (and he was the same when he rode as an amateur...). His personality is stable, one reason (among others) why sponsors can trust him....
In the same situation that CP377 (the last GP in Germany, before the job center), I'm sure that a rider like Dungey should have ridden with a big motivation ( you can say the same for a lot of riders...), only to show its true value...
Finally, your accusation about french press attitude is very funny, really.....You should meat someone who's inside the MX circle...
PS : all these thoughts do not require a « A » level in psychology.
It would be fun though if someone was writing the same thing about you. Oh sorry you are perfect, you passed the A level at 15, did your bachelor degree politics at Yale, have been enrolled in a leadership program in finance with big blue, passed your MBA Harvard at 25, then made a ton of money with your start up in the silicon valley . That cv looks like CP's, anyone who wins has more temperament than average human beings, you like it or not but in all cases he deserves some respect.
Just for your info there is no A level in psychology, that starts from uni.
From Pulpmx mailbox :
BUT just because there was an interview with Pourcel on Racer X (courtesy of LeBig.com) and I wanted to comment on it. The guy continues to be a mystery wrapped in a riddle and no one can really believe what he says. When I was at the MXDN, I asked around and yep, he’s as weird as ever over there like he was here. The last three-four races, he never spoke to his team. He would get off the bike, go into the truck, skip the parade lap and show up right before he had to go to the line fully dressed. And then repeat over and over. Once he realized he couldn’t win the MX1 title, the little effort that he did give went away according to those close on the team. He says he doesn’t want to go back and race the World Championships but that’s because there’s no one in the pits who wants him. He says his bike wasn't good enough but he's the one that went with the stock set-up. His reunion with his old team that was supposed to work didn’t and the relationships there were fractured. And the lack of effort with people on the team and the media was noticed by everyone over there.
So of course he wants to come back here but after wanting 750K and up to race a 450 and having no one interested, he seems to have been resigned to his fate. He’s like an emo 19-year old goth kid who can’t seem to figure out what he wants to do and blames the world for his problems. People in Europe figure that he’s not happy racing motorcycles but he has to because it’s a way to make money- which is the only thing he seems to care about. If he does come back, maybe it’s with Mitch Payton (the one guy that seems to be have earned CP’s respect) and we’ll see how he does. Once again, the guy’s just a different dude.
C'est bon, t'as compris là ?
Pit Row
It's true that I don't like his personality, but I like his riding style, that's all...
You can write anything you want about me, I don't mind...
And the last detail which could be useful, you can prepare a A-level in psychology (for example in Cambridge university....) :-)))
Welcome Arnaud !
:-))
If you want to be harsh with riders, then do it with all of them, you will see there is much more fun/weird stuffs to gossip, but will it change the race results?
He was less motivated since he could not win vs. Cairoli? What about the top 4 vs. RV or KR/MM vs. BB? They are also touched by mental games.
If they do no want him, then I will rewrite it again: "If team managers cannot handle calibers like JS7, RD5, RV2, CR22, AC222, TC41, JB51, DV15, CP, MM25, KR94, ET17, CD25 and GP21, that is their problem, their job is to make the sponsors win races, and they should be fired by the Chairman and CEO if they do not."
En tout cas le fait de balancer sur les forums ne risque pas d'aider à voir un français aux avant-postes en SX 450, à croire que vous croyez que Musquin ou Paulin vont faire des podiums dans cette catégorie là.
;-)))

GP-MX2 2006: 1st, 2 GP & 4 moto wins
GP-MX2 2007: 3rd, 2 GP & 4 moto wins
GP-MX2 2008: injured, paralized

Sponsors: recent example, that is also partially with CP's results that Luisetti got Kawi factory support.
Managers: every top team managers have bonuses and budgets based on results, plus they must meet results targets.
"If you want to be harsh with riders, then do it with all of them, you will see there is much more fun/weird stuffs"
He'd never go that hard on Stewart or any of his buddies. Presume he is safe in the knowledge him & CP won't ever be friends so it makes it easier to speak his mind. I expect he has the same kind of 'ask around' info on why Hansen is off H&H for example.
I doubt Mitch is the ticket for a $750K salary though...
I can reply hard when there is not much respect towards the riders.
I just bring arguments you may agree or not with.
