crashing with the leatt on

Took a hard hit Thursday night cased a step up and slammed right to the left shoulder. Got right back up made it to the truck
and Leatt fell off. Shoulder began to get extremely sore and swell I started to inspect the Leatt and the hinge is broken. It jabbed right into my shoulder and seperated it. Now my neck is cramping up all over, cracking and popping sore as shit. Anyone else had the same experience with the neck pain after a crash?

Your neck is probably sore from the stretched tendons and muscles. Your may have dislocated your shoulder, and stretched everything too far.

I have had 2 hard crashes wearing a leatt. One I landed on my forehead from a 60ft downhill double and suffered a bad concussion. Other than being loopy for a week, I was fine. My neck wasnt even sore. The second I shattered my collarbone. Got headshake on a long straight. Landed on my shoulder and smacked my head pretty good. Once again no problems with my neck being sore or with the brace itself. And for the record im not saying the leatt prevented me from a broken neck.

A friend of mine had exactly what you're describing and woke up three days later unable to move his legs and one of his arms. My advice is to bypass asking for medical advice here and go see someone with a degree hanging in his DOCTERS office.

Never said I was a "medical professional" and I always wonder why you like to put people down for trying to help a guy out when he specifically asks?

Like right now? Could be a crack in sceleton or compressed whatever you name is for the "pillows" between C2,3,4,5 etc? Friend of mine broke his neck (ATV slow tip over crasch) and his biggest concern was to hold his head still before ambulance came. He had no pain really just a "strange" feeling that his head was slightly loose from the "top"!?. Dont want to go in to details but surgery whole night by specialteam etc. Working halftime as carsalesman after one year. And they said one in a million! He tought in ambulance he was going home after a quick check? Dont take any chanses with neckpain buddy!

i've crashed with my leatt on and with it off. my opinion is that it has saved me a couple times, opinion though and not fact.

but the fact is i've also had the hinges seize up and it felt like i had a bear trap around my neck. not a good feeling. a hinge coming apart in a wreck is scary, i've heard stories of the hinges slicing guys' necks.

I dealt with lack of mobility, muscle spasms, pain, and trouble sleeping for about 3 months due to, in my opinion, a neck brace. I had to see a specialist and they finally fixed me. I now feel more comfortable without the brace while riding.

FIRST, see a doctor.
THEN, go with your own gut feeling about braces. Don't listen to me or anyone else.

My incident: In the spring I had a rather fast paced high-side, which flung me around, slamming directly on my back, with the back of my head following lead. Due to the back portion or the brace that sticks out, I think my neck was held up from natural rolling with my back and head. I actually had a bruise on the back collar of my neck from what I believe was the brace getting pushed into me on impact.
