Dr.D

Just was checking out the new line of pipes and such by them, really impressed with the new overall design and features. This brings me to my main question and perhaps something I have missed. Why is there no team running a Dr. D pipe?

When I think of Dr. D pipes I think of Yamaha, and there just aren't that many teams running blue. I'm still running stock on my yz250f, but I'm considering the FMF or Dr. D.

Pipe sponsorships probably don't come cheap when competing against pro circuit, fmf, yosh.

just my opinion but ..... bigger teams want several thousand $ plus free product ........ better off putting that effort and cash into inventory and into a Am program.

I also feel this way. Is there any test that show HP differences between major brands? It would be cool to see the power curve of the major brands.

From what I've noticed, he seems to help out the privateers, where it seems to be NEEDED more!

I've seen a lot of kids in the states and also here in cmcr running Dr.D. Haven't really checked prices out but I guess maybe helping the Am's out is a better market and the average rider. Anyone know what the price is for the main like exhaust system

Dougs pipes are cheaper than most big companies and work as well if not better. They are also built better than most pipes out there. Dubach is a bad dude at no matter what he does!

You may be right when it comes to sponsoring a second tier race team. But how many pro circuit pipes are sold each year because people assume its the best because Baggett and co use it? Mitch spends millions on his team and you can bet your bottom dollar he's seeing a return on investment now. Maybe not in the early days though.

idk i see mostly fmfs and drd's. Not so much pro circuit (4 stroke pipes that is) mitch must be making money on his other services and products. not soley on pipes alone

He has a free jetting service at Mammoth. It is pretty cool and free to everyone not just people who have his pipe.

huh....random...I saw Dubach today on the Toll road driving over into OC from the 91, I was bringing my new (yes!!! im so stoked right now) bike back from JWR and he saw me and pulled up next to me and waved to me. He does not know me personally although we have met many times, but thats just how he is. I will never forget him helping me at Glen helen one race weekend with the settings on my old bike for well over an hour in between our motos just because he was parked next to me and I had a couple questions.... The dude knows his stuff better than anyone, good reason he has the nickname DR. He has a PhD in Moto and is one of the coolest dudes in the game. Im a huge fan!

If you support any race team – it takes a lot of product, and at times a lot of custom product to work with the teams set up – the return on investment of money and time is not going to be there for a company like DRD and the team they would have. Better to keep costs down, have a good consumer product and focus on the local hero’s (local racers that the locals look up to). Doug is a smart guy, he knows what he’s doing!!!

Dr. D pipes have been on Yamaha's when 4 strokes started, the many ( ?) championships earned here in Canada were earned with hands-on hard work.

Probably because, as has been mentioned here, he's a "small" fish in a big pond. PC, FMF, & Yosh make it hard for smaller companies, or even large companies trying to break in (Leo Vince). I ran a Dr D on my last Yamaha (250F) & loved it. The guy is pure moto & is a genuinely nice guy. The kid runs stock on the CRF, but if we went after market, we'd def look into Dr D...//TJ
