About 2 weeks ago I was riding at Milestone MX park on the Main track and swapped out bad at the end of the whoops and fell and hit my head. The front of the visorhit first taking the blunt of it, it snapped off and my helmet has a hairline crack in the foam now. I popped right up and got off the track, bars were bent so I pack up and went home. I felt that I just hammered myself into the ground so I took it easy the rest of the day. I went to the doctors and got a neurological test done and checked out with a mild concussion. I also broke a blood vessel my left eye due to the impact so my eye doctor and doctor said 6 weeks off the bike to be safe. Its been almost 2 weeks and I still have a slight headache, I don' feel like I could do a full workout either at this point and have just been taking it easy since the crash, I just dont feel like 100%. I know everyone' recovery is different, but after two weeks I thought I would be 100% already. Really disspointed in the whole thing. I wish Milestone MX park would remove the whoops on their track. Poorly spaced and sized, Its not the first time I went down there and feel that its an obsticale that really doesn't have to be there. Don't get me wrong, I love whoops, but when they are designed poorly, its an accident waiting to happen. Any thoughts on recovery.
if blaming the whoops doesn't work , blame the bike but what ever you do don't take any personal responsibility for crashing.
I have had 3-4 bad head crashes, like baseball size bruises on my forehead & black eyes thru my helmet & was fine the next day. A friend of mine basically had an embarassing low speed hi-side & rang his bell, had vertigo for 4 weeks, then was fine.
Good luck!!

short term; each concussion is unique, base your recovery on how you feel.
the time it takes for 100% recovery is the time it takes, their are no short cuts for time.
with MX racing balance is major key. many concussion accessments overlook this.
( basic balance test ) while standing can you close your eyes and not move .
listen to what your body tells you.
Error on the side of caution - your future children will thank you.
I would really wait a damn long time before going back to the bike, ask you Doc what he suggest for you, but shooting from the hip, I feel like months might be necessary rather than weeks.
Also, some tracks are harder or more dangerous than others, I know the feeling how tempting it is to blame others for ones misfortune, but we ride dirt bikes for a hobby, it's dangerous.
Pit Row
It's impossible to suggest anything else than being cautious and keep in touch with the responsible doctor.
If you're talking the way your typing, then yes, you need to get back to the doc for a f/u exam. A good neuro exam should show most problems, but the con't headaches may need further w/u. This doctor from the US agrees with the doctor from Sweden on this one.....
If you are looking for medical advice, you need to see a fucking doctor, this is a message board not a clinic or ER.
And third, The whoops were perfect, you simply screwed up. Ride better next time.
You live in fucking FL dummy.....how the fuck would you know what the whoops were like? Another guy who actually "rides there" said the same thing....the whoops are fucked. The you ( from FL ) and Jay ( from AZ ) both come in spouting off that there isn't anything wrong with the whoops....how the fuck would you know?
FWIW.....I damn near did the exact same thing on a set of whoops in may. Broke some ribs on top of taking a dirt nap. Guess what?......in 3 days that exact whoop where I ate shit on.....claimed 5 other people! Reason?.....buried tree root that had been exposed. Got fixed by the guy who owns the track....now it's good.
Next time try thinking before opening your big cake holes.
I appreciate all the positive feedback, and hey this is Vitalmx! no one’s as brave or as smart as the guy behind the keyboard sitting is his underwear. What I was saying is, I just think that the whoop section at Milestone to be sub-par, I have watched a lot of riders make the same mistake there in that section and really it could be avoided. I just wished they listened to their customer feedback page on Facebook a little more. I mean the rest of the track is great in my opinion, I love riding there. Don't get me wrong, I was not looking to pass blame on anyone. Yes, I am upset that I crashed, could it have been avoided by me.... of course, I should of slowed down and not go through them in 4th gear.
As far as the Jay and 72Kiteboarder comments I made last night....they were a little harsh. But Christ.....it kind of pissed me off listening to a couple guys thrash on some newer guy here when he was just looking for advice. If you don't have anything positive to say , or can give any reasonable advice....then why say anything?
Apparently, from my research and via a post on Houstonmotocross.com, I ran out of gas at the end of a long moto on the face of a small table top that I usually hit pinned in 4th and over jump. The bike immediately went into an endo and I jump off and started kartwheeling followed by the bike chasing after me like a bull in Pamplona. A few onlookers came running out on the track and by the time they got to me I was already up and wondering around. They pushed my bike back for me and I walked to my truck. From what I read I was coherent enough to load my stuff up, get dressed, and convince the people who helped me to the truck that I was okay.
Then apparently I left the track and called my dad. I told him I had crashed and wasnt sure how to get home. He told me to pull over and he would send my sister to come get me and take me to the hospital as I was complaining of back pain. I pulled over, a few times, and when she caught up with me I was 40 miles north of the track. I followed her to a hospital and a couple hours later is when I can start remembering that day. I was diagnosed with a stage III concussion and a broken t-4 and t-5 vertebrae. I am having surgery this coming Friday at 11 am followed by a year off the bike with rehab.
This wasnt my first concussion. I am 32 and have been racing for 28 years, 9 of them racing sx and mx (98-07). I have had near 10 concussions, 3 of them I lost consciousness, and 7 of them I have no recollection of the entire day, including my latest one. Still today 10 days later my short term memory is F'ed. This concussion shit is scary. I may be hanging it up.
OTC, don't push it dude. I have had some pretty bad bell ringers in my youth way back before concussions were taken seriously. Now I am paying for it. 'Nuff said
