Is that why nobody respects you, because of your multiple "minor" league championship titles?

He's just some cocky little Dutch kid that races in the minor leauge class in a second rate series and has a second rate title.

No need to worry about him.

Just sayin. He's fast, but so is Baggett, Barcia, Roczen, Cianciarulo, Strijbos, etc. on the 250fs. Even Mike Brown, Steve Lamson, George Holland kicked ass in the "Lites" but this class is a stepping stone to the main "premier" class. Cairoli, Everts, Thorpe, Jobe, Bayle, etc. have dominated the premier class and garner more respect.

Hold up...so Herlings is racing MX3? Is he on the 350 or the 450?

See, if I'm Herlings...and if I honestly believe I'm the baddest sand rider on the planet....I ride MX2, and smoke the Americans on a 250, in the horsepower robbing sand...just to leave no doubt in anyones mind where he ranks in terms of sand riders.

All this riding a 350/450 and then not even riding MX1...make it look like he thinks he at least needs to have equal cc's to compete with the Americans, and that he's dodging dungey in MX1. I don't think he's as confident as some of his fans are.

Since he's not on the 250, I say he crashes in at least one moto and doesn't make the podium (the 450 is a different machine than the 250)...and that he'll win the other moto (the MX2/MX3 moto) with Barcia in tow. (Baggett will be the weak link...again...and will barely make the top 10 in both of his moto's because of crappy starts, and crashes because he's trying to hard).

And perhaps most importantly, America wins the trophy and as a result kicks Herlings ass...since it is a team race afterall.

He's riding a 350, just as he did last year when he finished second in the MX2/MX3 race.

Its been explained a few times already, but he'll riding the last two races back to back, which will be when the track is at its roughest and when arguably the event could be won or lost.

'IF' he wins both of his races, I don't see how not riding a 250 could be held against him. The kid is 17.

(edit. with all this build up, the chances are he won't win a race for whatever bizarre reason)

He`s racing MX3 because Dutch does`t have another decent 450 rider to put in big bike class and De Reuvers fitnes is not good enough to go back to back moto`s.

Here's the thing though, Dutch ain't gonna with the thing anyway (they won't even podium)...so who cares about De Reuvers fitness....make this years event the Herlings show and give him the platform to show his (and Dutch's) dominance in the sand?

Either let him dominate on a 250...or put him in MX1 to race Dungey.

He'll go up against Dungey,Cairoli and Barcia etc in the last race, right after he's just done a Moto, and it's the last race of the day,the track at it's gnarliest,Dungey etc will have had a rest too, just suppoing the boy wins it,are you then going to chop him down and give him less respect because he's on the 350 instead of the 250???

The Dutch feel they have a slight chance of a podium if Herlings does well, with the rest of the finishes average or above they just could scrape it,it's the Nations afterall!

I honestly believe that Herlings is the best sand rider in the world...I'd just like to see him prove that, while eliminating as many excuses from the haters as possible. And a 250 would certainly do that, on both counts. So now, I won't chop him down because he's on a 350...but it would just be cooler (and silence the critics even more) if he was on a 250.

And I was referring to the MX1 overall. Of course they'll race each other head to head. But it would be cool to see his name in front of Dungey's (the US 450 MX champ) for the MX1 overall. (I'm splitting hairs here, I know...)

Quote of the day! I agree.. Smile

We shal see what he can do in his own back yard, But get real, put him up against ANY of USA's best in the heat over here and you will see this wonder boy broken. Over here we call these types of things one hit wonders... and what we are serving are home runs...

BTW, I believe he will be beat.

I don't really think anyone believe that he will beat Tomac, Baggett, Roczen etc over there in the US? But honestly I think he will beat the shit out of all of them at mxdn Wink

If you really think he could beat roczen, barcia, musquinn, tomac, or Baggett in a series either here or in Europe I think you're nuts. I'm not saying he wouldn't have his moments but I don't think he could consistently beat either of them.

I hope he and everyone has good starts, avoids trouble, and the best man that day in time come out on top. If its him or anyone else I say congtats.

I don't normally buy into this whole USA vs World mx crap....but.....when was the last time an American won a world championship and an AMA championship? I think Bobby Moore was the last one back in the 90s (and I'm not even sure if he won an ama outdoor title. Maybe the 125 one, I'm not sure).

As for the other riders who have done both.....Langston, Albertyn, Pichon (if you count 125 SX titles)....Reed came close (second in world mx) as did Tortelli (second in AMA to RC)....

This DeReuver MX1 excuse is bullshit. Your telling me DeReuver has a better shot at getting good results in the MX1 motos rather than MX3. If he is the weak link he only needs one good moto, which his best possible chance would be MX2/MX3 not MX1/MX2. Herlings should be able to go 1-1 in his motos either way, but DeReuver has a much better chance at a low result in MX3 against the weaker riders.

I'll tell you what, Herlings better not talk that kind of crap around Barcia. I can see it getting pretty personal between those two. Yeah Herlings is pretty damn fast in the sand and even if he were on a 250 he could still run up front but Barcia won't take any crap off of anyone, especially a kid with an ego like Herlings. And I think Roczen will surprise alot of people. He's ridden here before and he's already a great sand rider as it is. And if Rattray were out there, he could play spoiler for him. There are plenty of great sand riders and I think a guy like Roczen will have a particular good advantage in the deep deep sand on a 250 because of the momentum you have to keep to keep the bike from sinking. It's harder to do that on a 350 or 450. But let's just put a blanket over Barcia and Herlings in their moto and we got a race!

You make it sound like he`s afraid to race MX2 or MX1. If he was in other class you would say that he`s afraid to race Barcia. He`s taking this one for a team. Dutch has a best shot at a podium in decades.

When all the European countries finally get their act together and form one European Union, the USA might have trouble winning the MXdN.

I'm just calling it like it is. Never has a team put their best rider in MX3 for the sake of the team. It doesn't make sense and it's a weak move. That is all.

It makes a lot of sense if you understand what`s going on.
Exacly,

DeReuver can't do back to back motos fitness wise (getting older and lots of past injuries), so he'll run race race 1 and 3 (called mx1, but that doesn't matter).

The class results dont mean anything at MXDN, only for benchracers maybe. If herlings wins the last moto (mx1/mx3) with only 30min rest. thats good enough proof for me.
This.

Plenty have met God. You'll (just like me) get the opportunity, too.
