So far, Dungey hasn't gotten the credit earned by his hard work, dedication, championships and the lot.

He's too smooth, too nice, too quiet, too vanilla, too what ever else for many of the fans.

All the while stacking up moto wins and championships along the way, not really giving a shit about the neysayers.

Keep up the hard work, great attitude, team effort and your head down while racing for the elite status of the sport.

BamBam hasn't beaten Bagget consistently who has been erratic, he's got a long way to goto beat Dunge over a year...

Those boys in the 250 class are going to have to work on their consistency if they want to beat Dungey for a title. When you race Dungey for a championship, anything outside the top 5 just won't cut it...and Barcia, Tomac, and Baggett have all proven to have issues doing that in the tiddler class.

I'm a huge Dungey fan BECAUSE he is vanilla, and makes it look so easy and is so boringly consistent all the time. Smile

It says alot for Stanton to say what he said but the fact is he is there week in and week out watching, running times, looking at everytime that needs to be looked at, if anyone knows he is the man. Dungey won't be so mistake free when the freight train is up his ass or in front of him. He is basically just saying these kids are for real that are coming up and there are many more on the way so guys like Dungey better be stepping it up a bit if they want to remain at the top. I agree 100%.

IF anybody ever got a championship handed to him it was stanton....but he does have a great mental game as can be attested by this thread.

Haha, Stanton had near no talent as a rider he will say it himself, but worked for everything he ever won, he has earned every right as an observer to call it how he see's it, and I didn't mean it like he was the "lone man" at all I just meant the Honda has employeed him for years to do what he does. IF anybody ever got a championship handed to them it was Dungey twice now on a platter, and you obviously don't know your racing history very well at all. Stanton getting handed anything back then is really fucking stupid to say.

If Baggett's competition were as weak as Dungey's, he would be 20-0 right now. When the 450s start filling up with fast guys, RD might find himself in a pickle on more than one occasion: pick up the pace and risk falling, or settle for a spot outside the top 5.

Not going to say that Stanton was handed a title..... in 1989 he was given a gift when RJ broke his wrist. Furthermore, I do not think those fellas would be beating RD5. However, I do think the Big 5 would be closer to RD5 than the rest of the uninjured 450 riders. In New Berlin, Tomac was had the fastest lap of the day. These fellas are fast.

This might be the fastest small bore field in the history of the sport. Only 1983 (Barnett, O'Mara, Ward, Lechein) and 1989 (Holland, Cooper, MX Keid, Kehoe, Bradshaw) rival them.

BobM.... good point. I think Indy was fall for Bradshaw when he bailed off the triple and Vegas when he T Boned Chicken in a bowl turn and went down. Both JMB and Stanton saw blood in water and went on a frenzy. Will never forget how JMB casually rode around the track until someone caught him

Not sure if you're some what new to the sport or not, but in Stantons day the season was split between the 250 and 500. Seven 250 races and five 500 races, if you count them both Stanton has 21 wins in his four year run.

Yes Stanton was handled a title, the 89 Supercross. Rj was clearly on another level than everyone else. He got hurt in a freak accident that was not his fault in any way. I remember the first 5 or 6 races clearly. RJ never got the holeshot, he always came through the pack to win.

Stanton clearly benefited from Johnson getting hurt and never being close to his best. He was the best rider in the world at the time.

This isn't exactly what stanton said. As I understand it, it was more of "These guys would be right there with dungey, and half the time beating him" not that they would all be beating him all the time. Now, I don't agree with stanton as to the frequency of them beating dungey, but I believe they would on a more frequent occasion than MA800 has this year, which was what the whole conversation started from. MXdN.

Stanton should also know that Dungey can turn it up more if he needs to. Since the competition is down this year, I am sure we are not seeing his best. Look at moto 1 at Steel City last year, he and RV were well over a minute in front of 3rd place. Barcia was in that moto and had the holeshot and finishedike 1 minute and a half back.

That is indeed whats Stanton was saying. Some guys didn't hear it or misunderstood what Staton said. He feels they will step up and be for real, so Dungey better be prepaired.
