Sad to think that now Armstrong will be forever known as a liar and cheater, I had always hoped he was better than scum like Mark McGuire or Barry Bonds. But I guess not.
The bigger picture might be that this will completely ruin cycling's credibility.

In the big scheme of things cycling and motocross are both small worlds in which it seems everyone knows everyone. And there's a lot of crossover between the two sports; athletes, manufacturers, coaches, trainers etc.
The guy in the middle has known some of Lance's key people since about the time that Lance was on training wheels. He calls Lance a "no good lying, doping cheat!"
The guy on the right (close friends to 5-time TdF winner Eddy Merckx) oversees a young MX champion that you may have heard of. Earlier this year there were press releases about that racer being allied with Livestrong. Those releases showed the racer with the magic yellow rubber band and the Livestrong logo on his gear. Funny how that affiliation just sort of disappeared as suddenly as it came about.
And it's not my fault if the truth about Lance is negative. But I am tired of seeing people regurgitating the same tired BS that Lance's PR folks put out, "witch hunt," "no jurisdiction," "most tested," on and on. It's so sad.
The mans tired of the witch hunt and the USADA act like they "won" and he must be guilty because he said fuck it. Sounds just like if you float you're a witch crap.
You want to change the sport for the better, deal with those in the present.
Anytime someone testifies under the immunity deal is almost worthless imo.
If it was that rampant, it was the norm, part of the game, get real and move on...........
You mean like Johan Bruyneel, Lance's director sportiff since '99 and the current DS of Team Radio Shack? The man who has been charged with administering, trafficking and conspiring? He chose to go to arbitration where he'll have the chance to cross-examine the witnesses and refute all the evidence and testimony. The same opportunity that Lance had but chose not to.
Pit Row
But to go running around, telling people to fess up and talk or you are going to jail, is just wrong imo.
What do you expect them to say? They're all cheaters in your book, why be so selective with what words you believe?
Did he pass the testing to the powers that were at the time or not?
Looks like a Salem Witch hunt by a Senator McCarthy to me, sorry...............
By saying "enough" Lance has given up his one opportunity to have addressed and refuted all of those charges in arbitration. A very fair arbitration procedure I might add, one in which the case is heard by three arbiters, one chosen by the USADA, one chosen by Lance and the third that both Lance and USADA must agree on. The USADA would have had zero power to decide the case, it would have been entirely up to the arbiters.
If YOU knew that you were innocent, wouldn't you want your case to be heard, instead of just walking away?
The USADA set up the testing procedures during the TDF and he passed them, that should have been the end of it.
Oh and by the way the words "fair" and "arbitration" don't belong in the same sentence.
I have yet to see or experience any arbitration process that wasn't influenced by one side or the other.
Who's gonna be the 3rd person that isn't somehow involved, or listening to those that are?
Chance to refute the "evidence?" To feel this way is to drink the Kool-Aid. To call this arbitration process "fair" is a stretch. In reality it is but a kangaroo court. It is not the same as operating under a well-tested set of procedural and evidentiary rules that exist in a courtroom context. Remember, these are rules created by the USADA and changed at their whim to govern the hearings on accusations they choose to bring. The USADA feels the system is not already tilted enough in their favor already as it is trying to change them to be even more biased in their favor and make the changes retroactive even to cases in progress.
Yea...I would want my case to be heard...if I thought the process had any semblance of fairness.
I have litigated for folks in these types of administrative hearings and they are generally a joke. It is like tilting at windmills.
Judge Sparks had some pithy things to say about the USADA and how it does business in his recent ruling. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/judge-issues-stinging-criticism-of-usad…
Lots of Lance haters out there. He may have doped, he may have not. No matter who is right or wrong...it is just time to move on...and perhaps focus the spending of our tax dollars by the USADA on current practices and riders...not something from 14 years ago. Or maybe actually look at some other sports that assiduously avoid any drug testing programs...but then again, that would be hard and might not gain these folks as much in the media spotlight time (look at the timing of when they choose to bring these allegations in relation to major cyclcing events...it ain't just by chance).
The USADA's withholding was based on previous acts of witness intimidation from Lance. The Tyler Hamilton and Simeoni incidents are the most notable: (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/armstrong-accused-of-intimidating-poten…), (Simeoni http://velonews.competitor.com/2011/06/news/the-explainer-intimidation-…). Had Lance not said "enough" he would have been provided with all of the information in their files.

Where have the rules been changed? And incidently, the rules between USA Cycling and the USADA were writting in part by Lance's long-time mentor and business partner Thom Weisel.
