the only 4 moto's he hasn't wrecked in, he won, and his bike looked great. since then, he has been a ping pong ball and the ground is the paddle. this isn't a hateful post, but at some point you guys need to just look past the color of the bike and the stiffness of the forks. the dude is wrecking on the regular. the only setup that needs adjustment, is the motor between his ears.

i really hope he figures it out soon, because watching someone plaster themselves over and over is not fun. and i am sure he doesn't like it either. all those videos of him practicing, his bike and his style look like butter, perfect. the races are better with him there, but they're even better when he doesn't add to the highlight reel of carnage.

heal up and figure it out
This^^^^^

I believe its all mental for James right now.

Hater! I'm a hater too.... a hater of all the lame ass excuses. Not sure how some can say it's bike setup, when he goes out and puts up one of the fastest lap times.....

The series is much better off with James, Chad, Trey, Ryan, Ryan..... the more the better the racing!

Stewart was pushing really hard in that first moto, which contributed to the crash. The second moto he was doing something spectacular, which contributed to that crash. It's funny that some of you just say it was just bad luck. Bad luck would be Alessi having a rock causing a mechanical, not Stewart crashing again.

Scenario: RD5 goes down and injurers himself in the same crash he had at Unadilla and can't race the rest of the series....Looses Championship. Thoughts?

With the rear?...Eh?...I took screen captures and have slowed it down 100x now. The front gets squirmy in the rut first before anything else. He looks to have come into the rut clean, then 1/4-1/2 in, the front somehow get's jacked up, like it hit something, maybe a rock?...Then rebounds and you know the rest.
I should've said "looks like", because that's what it looks like to me. I'm not the person that puts a "stamp it" on an opinion form a video on the interwebz. I pushed play/stop, play/stop as fast as I could, but without being there in person to see it, your guess is as good as mine.

It would be Dungey's fault. That probably wouldn't happen though because Dungey rides within his limits. Stewart doesn't.

I would agree with you if he didn't look so smooth and mistake free at the first two rounds. The first two rounds were similar tracks to what he had been practicing and testing on. Once he got onto soft rutted tracks him and his bike looked like crap.

This is hard to explain in a post, but i dont think he has a very forgiving bike, and once it steps out he's going so fast his mind doesn't have time to react. Be it from concussions or just getting older, he cant save things like he use to.

Ummm... Dungey has crashed two race weekends in a row, and broke his collarbone during Supercross this year. Dungey rides within his limits more often than Stewart.

Stewarts "flaw" is he wants to win so bad he is willing to push at or past his limits at all times.

It would be interesting to watch 2008 Unadilla or whatever and see if there are any differences in set up, riding style, body weight, etc. Anyone know where to fin the 2008 broadcast?

In that video, all that I saw was Steart leaning over to early in a rut. Maybe he was an inch off of the rut and when the bike dropped into the rut it shifted his weight. The only "dramatic" event I saw prior to the crash was when he was already losing the bike and the front wheel hit a kink in the rut. He seemed to be falling from the get go of the crash clip. Bike set up, riding too hard, whatever you want to blame it on, it just looked like he wasn't lined up for the rut and wasn't positioned right on the bike to counter it when it pulled his weight to the right. But wat do I know?

Generally yes, but remember that he had no chance of winning SX last year as he was out with a BROKEN COLLARBONE?

Basically al these guys are one crash away from distaster...Some just more than others.

So you bring up Dungey's exception, not the rule. Typical. Difference is when Dungey crashes, he's in his comfort zone and more likely to avoid injury. Stewart and Canard are pushing their limits more than the other top guys, which is why they're always hurt.

Again, I love it when you guys point to the 1 exception to prove your point. Stewart has a history of wadding up. Dungey does not. The 2012 SX season was the first time in his career he missed significant time due to injury. By Stewart's 6th season, he had missed significant time on 3 different occasions.

No you brought up the exception, not the rule. Typical. You said "That probably wouldn't happen though because Dungey rides within his limits. Stewart doesn't."

The fact is, Dungey rides within his limits more often than Stewart.

I think another thing too that some others pointed out is that when guys like Stewart, RC, Reed, Canard, RV crash it is almost always nasty because these guys are riding so fast! I mean if there is any kind of mistake in how hard these dudes are pushing it ain't going to be pretty. Look at SX and these crazy rythem sections, absolutly no room for error. Outdoors guys are pushing so hard and tracks so rough that the crashes are pretty crazy.

Yea, like when he almost landed in the crowd in Washougal. The dude hasn't been pushed hard all season with the exception of 4 races (and we know how those turned out) and the race he lost to Allessi.

Put RV, JS, CR back in the mix and we'd actually have an interesting season again. He rarely has beaten this bunch straight up with any consistency (prob b/c they are always out). But yes, his mojo is all about staying on two wheels...We all know this though.

Pretty straightforward conversation DeCoster has with him at the beginning of the season...Just stay in two wheels and be consistent.

Carry on.

Some riders should sit down with the old Champs who have been there before to learn from their mistakes. In this clip at 8:50 Hannah talks about the consequences of riding WFO when you don't have to. It's kind of prophetic.

Last i checked he was whooping up on RV and Reed fairly consistently last mx season. Cracks me up how fans of other riders always try to downplay Dungeys speed. He was on stewarts ass first 4 motos and catching him at colorado when he bailed. I havent seen too many guys run away from him whem he starts with them, he just doesnt throw caution to the wimd when trying to pass and knows when to settle. Considering he has as many titles as poto and stewy in less years even with mechanicals that cost him the championship i'd say he's got it figured out.
