Curious, is it politics that kept Alessi from getting a factory spot this year as fast as he still is if "their program" has been a gigantic pain in the ass for every team that's tried to work with it?

Acutally Barcia done one of those two tribes things in racerx and Barcia is really a smart kid. So riders don't have a clue sometimes. Barcia din't miss a single question they asked. I also think Barcia would possess that same American pride you speak of.

All in all, I believe that Roger has been given the task of picking a winning team and has done exactly that. I believe that just us having this discussion of who should go indicates that we (even without several top riders out there)have the best riders. Imagine being from a country where you have 1 maybe 2 riders and then someone from the local level. How fortunate are we to even have the depth to even have this discussion? That we have so many riders, that good, that we could send several combinations and still have the best team?

Average lap times mike has everyone covered but Tomac....I think. Barcia will be on a different bike, just because it hasmore hp don't mean he will be faster, just more crash prone.

mike avg lap moto 1 2:05.452
Tomac. 2:05.075
Barcia 2:08.651
Baggett. 2:06.192
Dungey. 2:04.312

moto 2

mike. 2:07.676
Tomac. 2:08.594
Barcia. 2:09.150
Baggett. 2:07.058
Dungey. 2:06.550

Average laps are a fair comparison, I know a 450 is faster but just showing the people that keep saying he is behind them that he is a bit faster in some cases. What's cool to me is we are having this discussion today, some folks wrote him off, now look where he is, right on. Thats cool you can save the stats in iBooks thanks racerx. Sorry for my grammar and Stuff, that was a lot of typing and I dont get along with this iPad keyboard.
And to be fair the 250 guys raced on a worse track in both motos as they rode a rougher track. And like someone said Barcia had a bad race. Compare the average lap times at more than one place. I know this arguement is about sand riding but some of these people are just saying faster period...meaning overall not just in the sand. Hell I like mike too and hate to see anyone left at home. It would be nice if we could send two teams.

My opinion was this, The moto media has to be very careful in what they release or risk being cut out of the loop. It's not that you guys/gals don't ask or don't know through word of mouth and or good speculation and or good rumor's, it's that you can't put it out there. And yet you guys get hammered for not asking the tough questions, which isn't the case. It's just different from mainstream media. As far as having choice's...? It's not like they make you guys sell babies on the black market, I think it would be a great job for a while. Being on the road almost all year though, would get tough after a while. I'm sure it's not as glamorous as some would think..... But a blast none the less.

As far as who I am..... I'm Kyle Redcliff and I live in N. California.

Roger DeCoster has managed Team USA to, what, 22 wins? And he's done it with some pretty controversial line-ups....

Shouldn't we let The Man who knows the event better than anyone -- he won it and the Trophee des Nations, what, ten times as a rider with Team Belgium? -- and he has a very good idea of how the team will work together in the two weeks they will be over there (they are leaving the day after the Lake Elsinore National). That's a lot of time to be together, ride together, work together...

Everyone knows that Mike Alessi is one of the fastest 450 riders in the sport right now, but Roger knows what it takes to win this race, and on a specific track that he knows very well. I say we trust his decision and see how it all plays out.

5 pages, the name Alessi in the title and it's not in the dumbgeon? Is this progress or has Mikey's strong finishes brought a lot of his believe the hype and kill switch critics to lessen their rhetoric?

They should have picked MA800, the way he cuts lines in front of everyone and looks back he would be sure to take out 1/2 the field and give us a better shot at getting the "W"

I think it was a good call to take Barcia, he has Alessi covered, easily. He races forward and to the checkers....not everyone does.

Wow I was trying to side with Decoster until I heard that, what a crock of crap. It isn't like Mike crashes folks, MX isn't a team sport you just try to win the race or place as high as you can, what kind of team stuff am i missing? The only team stuff I see is their points are added together and they wear the same shirts. Sharing bike setups doesn't always workout. Why not have a qualifying race like the Olympics, top 3 go and 4th is a backup.

Serious question. Why does their program have anything to do with MXoN. Send him over with his team and add the their points in. I think Roger gets to much credit, he's not riding the bikes. There are always 2 sides to every story, most internet experts just go by the gossip they hear, I know you have inside info but unless you were there we really don't know what went down. Roger has a lot of power in the sport, i think it's sort of like when a country wins a war their version of history is what is recorded. Mike has struggled over the years because of injuries maybe that's why he didn't get a factory ride, everyone lost faith in him. People just need to move on and cut him and Tony some slack.

Yup, we're going to need this space. You're going to have to move Down-Stairs. If you still have questions about your pay-check you're going to have to go see the folks in HR.

Oh, and, let's keep those threats about "Burning this Place Down" to a minimum, OK?

I am shocked this thread has not turned into a USA vs. Europe bashing thread. I am very proud of you folks. I think the Europeans are afraid we Americans might bring up the olympic medals count. j/k. I enjoyed all of your opinions and I agree with Decosters decision. But I think Alessi would do a fine job as well. Hopefully we can see the race on tv before spring of 2013.

Crash, I think it's fairly simple.
Roger D picks and runs the USA team.
Roger D is not going to work with or be part of anything to do with Team A.

Cool man, thanks for the reply. Roger kept saying it's a team thing, so I think it's fair to ask what does a teamwork have to do with MX? I think your second statement hit it. I'm sure folks would disagree with the credit thing, but USA has better riders, anyway I'll drop it.
