I am always baffled by the claims that 927 causes buildup. I've used it at 32:1 since the early 80s in everything from 125s to 500s and never had anything like the gunk buildup people claim. I think the problem is if your bike is not jetted properly and is too rich the liquid castor bean oil will build up, where an oil like H1R will not, it will stay liquid and not build up. I recently rebuilt my '79 Maico 440 that had been run a lot for 4 years on 927 and it had virtually no buildup on the piston crown or anywhere else for that matter. I run it in all 28 of my bikes and every one of them have bone dry dark grey exhaust, but they all have spotless jetting too.
This is your answer, If it's not jetted correctly to the oil gas mixture, you are going to get buildup.

32:1 40:1 or 50:1 if you are using a good oil doesnt matter on a 250 jet it for the oil and ratio you like. what matters is that you use the same ratio and the same oil always and its for the one you jetted your bike for.

28 bikes? ! ? ! ?

Holy shit.

(pouting while kicking my pathetic wallet down the street)
They are all old bikes, its not like I have 28 2012s Wink

All my bikes are '83 or older except for an '87 CR250, '92 CR500 and '99 YZ125. Most are 70s European bikes like Maicos, Penton/KTMs and Husqvarnas. All two strokes that run on 927 and 1gal race gas to 2gal non-ethenol pump.

Concur 100%. I would say that over 90% use a 32:1 or 40:1 ratio.

I split the difference and run 36:1.

I run 32:1 instead of 24 or 36 or 40 because its so easy to measure, 4oz to each gallon. Simple, no trying to measure 3.1869oz per gallon. Dump in 16oz bottle, 4 gal gas, shake to mix, done.
