Congrats to Ron Hamp & MIke Alessi for the results thus far this season. Ron built the motors Mike has been running and did the tuning of the transmission's on those RMZ450's. Mike is certainly not down on hp on that bike. And Ron has been a great resource of motors/ products to many teams over the years. He deserves the exposure for the motor's he's built! Together they are taking on the factory teams and doing quite well!

why dont motor guys get more recognition in the SX/MX industey? you see it almost all forms of racing, teams running sponsor logo's of who is doing their motors. in moto it seems like its all back door dealing.

Varner is a good guy. He is the first and only motor guy I have ever used to call after the work was done to check and make sure that everything went according to plan. If i could give him a rating MXA style it would have been 5 star.

Think of it as kinda like a "private label" sort of deal.

If the team is paying for it, they want the credit. Im sure if these shops were doing the motor work for free, they could get their stickers on the bike. Some of the best motor guys out their dont always want to be in the limelight. They deal with a select few customers and get to avoid a lot of BS in the process.

On my 2004 CRF450, I had Ron's head porting, camshaft, springs, a 13.5:1 piston, with a hybrid Yosh/Supertrapp exhaust....

I got a holeshot in every race I ran that bike in...no shit. And I was/am a big guy at 6'3" 200lbs...

A local fast expert rode it and came back in saying "holy shit this thing is a beast".

That thing was a rocket...it was hard to hold onto late in a moto on a beat up, slick track if you tried to gun and run it.

I know for a fact that DASA Racing engines run by Dan Lamney does the head work for RV2's bike and has does alot of work wiith teams that is not advertised on the bikes. The only thing pro bike team I have seen run advertising for DASA is YOT a few years ago with Jlaw and a few others.

So, is their at least 3 engine builders for mike? Ron, Terry, and Alan? Can you name the company they are? So which one is actually making the horsepower?

Seems a bit complicated, but it works! The cylinders start with you in michigan for porting, then get sent to ct in cali for seat massage, then varner gets to assemble them, but gets most credit for performance. Sounds like the HP comes mostly from you.

Ron, in 2013 my son will be doing the pro am's to try to get his pro licence and we will be going back to 250s (from 450s) and we plan on using your head and cam package. We are looking forward to ride some fast 250s.Smile

Red ones of course.
