Anybody else going ? Anyone know the opening act ? If it's that boring band - " The 450's" - I hope they tune up their show...

My first visit EVER to Washougal and to the Pacific Southeast. Ever ever.

Stoked to climb a tree, discover Portland and see the sights.

Recommendations for Washougal/ Portland area ?

Best place to watch the race ?

Interesting side notes ?

Giddy to be going.

*Ill bring you back some SIKK pics, promise.

The best place to watch is probably on the hill between the ski jump and the straightaway that leads up to the uphill jump in the back corner of the track. There's usually a big Pepsi trailer parked on the side of that hill. You can easily move around in that area to see a good percentage of the track.

Dig it. Isn't there some sort of beerfest going down in Portlandia, as well ?

* And much thanks for all your info, greatly appreciated.

Pacific Northwest ? That would be Kamchutka province....

** Who was that local- home-track-schooled dude that ALWAYS ran tough at Washougal ? Ryan Huffman ?

And wasn't there a local on 500's back in the day that KILLED that track...?

The local was Jammin Jason McCormick ...
He beat the Goat there one year I believe for a Moto win. Wink

And the 500cc local dudes that killed that track were,Rick Burgett, Chuck Sun and many others! Smile

Just watch out for BigFoot / Sasquatch / Yeti.
It's been like 30 years since he was seen around track....
But i gotta feeling he will be back soon.

Eddy, I was thinking of Eric or Erik something in 500 's ? Local dude ?

Also, i may be wrong, but I think that was Tallon Vohland giving the GOAT a hard time, not McCormick ?

It would be a huge mistake not to visit the PIR race if you are around Thursday.

VERY close to PDX, 15 minutes.

You'd have enough time to land, get some food and still beat the line into the track.

No problem, Rup! There's usually some shade up there in the afternoon when it starts getting hot, too. On the other side of the fence on that back uphill jump there's a pond that they stock with trout. There's usually some pros and mechanics up there fishing on Friday night. Mitch always seems to make an appearance.

Yeah, they usually put a "beer cage" near the landing of the ski jump, and one on the other side of that straightaway going up to the back uphill jump. Can't bring your own alcohol into Washougal during the national weekend (unless you hide it well, that is Wink )

Theres something magical about the Washington soil..from Larry Wards epic sx win(S) to Shorty's brand new one this year...and Washougal soil is no different. It seems the pin it fast boys are reduced to scratching their head. The track has claimed two of Canards Femurs, watched it take JMB's wrist, Pastrana and a wicked RC winning streak. It's a track where KDUB is a god and the technical slick clay and shady spots reek havock on the ususal speed suspects. The locals can Haul the mail, Lance smail showed the world tthat amongst many others.... I predict Kroc to thrive here for some reason....I can't believe it's your first trip Rup. If and or when I make it down it will be my 22nd in a row.I'll look for you-
