and wanted to do a Red Bull KTM rookie's cup, like the successful motoGP program, with 20 equally prepared KTM 125SXs...
What say you?
For those of you who dont know, the Red Bull rookies cup, is 20 equally prepared KTM 250 road race bikes (they were 125s) that they run before the motoGP races at some of (maybe all) rounds of the motoGP series. It is usually 14-16 yr old kids.
I think the MX version would be wildly popular.

that's what finally did in World Mini Race of Champions..........and wasn't there a big dust up DC years ago about your LL bibs due to sponsor conflicts??
but would be way cool to see something like that........IROC for moto..........maybe would be a good way for some unknowns to get in the spotlight?? some type of second tier type of qualifying throughout the country along with LL stuff??
you can only enter that if you're NOT trying to get to LL in normal classes or something??
KTM bringing the 125's back to the US was a step in the right direction. Glad to see someone has a shred of common sense when it comes to bridging the gap between the 85's and 250's. TM amping up their 125 to the point I heard they may drop the 144? And Husky offering up such a sweet looking 125 that comes with a bolt on 150 kit included in the $5999.00 price. Oh, and let's not forget Yamaha still offering their 2005 YZ125 for sale today.
The way I see it, there are four mfgs. currently offering 125's here in the states. We could call them the Big 4.

also, their EFI 125 is functional in their karting application, turns 14k rpms and makes even MORE power. they are just tweaking it for MX, and it is coming down the pipe.....pun intended.
For those that side of the pond unfamiliar with it, it's 8 Rounds for kids from 13- 19,bridging the gap between riding 85's and 250f 's,affordable racing,giving the kids the chance to be involved in the atmosphere of a big GP event and under the eye of team bosses etc,everyone's a winner

KTM is taking over the industry.
we are doing a 125cc open class at the Lake County Fair mx in 2 weeks also.
2-strokes may save moto.
We do need a change up of some sort....and this may be the ticket. Either way.....we "need" something.........I just don't know what it is. Still like the idea of having an open AM 125cc class during the nationals. Actually.....open to any class.....Pro-Int. I think it would be an awesome addition.
Btw TM's new 250 2t engine is also nearly ready for production.
besides that, no kids going to show up at a national and ride some bike he's never ridden before.

disagree. if you want to make it nowadays, you'll do whatever is required of you.if this was an important event, there would be a turnout. making it relevant is the key, and it seems like it would be.
All the mfgs. have gotten just a little too full of themselves over the years. These are amateurs we are talking about here after all. The fact that the bike companies spent themselves to the brink of bankruptcy financing amateur careers might just have something to do with $8700.00 dirt bikes that sit on the dealer floors and collect dust. Never ceases to amaze me the number of pro riders you hear of that don't own a bike or want someone to give them a good bike to ride otherwise they won't ride. Some of these are the ones who ran through numerous bikes each year as an amateur. If the amateurs didn't get paid, maybe some pros could get paid.
