Why is it that pro riders are allowed to ride the +30 B/C class? I am just curious because its pretty crappy you might as well just take the C out of there because its just another A/fast B class. I not talking about one that snuck in either. I'm talking about someone that won the area MX sports was notified about it and he was allowed to run the regional and got in. Its also a guy that held an AMA pro number for several years. I'd just like to know how that is keeping it fair for the people that actually belong in the class. You'd think at 30 guys would be done trophy hunting.

I'm not going to name any names on here. Just looking for clarification on why they would let it happen. I just heard about the protest on it and saw he was still allowed to ride the regional.

I think if there was a 30 plus A, B and C you would fill all 3 classes! Our local Plus 30 class has more riders than the Lites A and B combined!

kind of a shitty way to pin it on DC. its an unanswerable question. from experience, usually these sandbaggers get nailed before loretta's...and they fill the slots with alternates. If you got proof that somoene is not a B/C rider then submit the proof and let the process take place.

just make a list of these riders and send it to ama if it verifies they are A, or not compliant, they will be not allowed in the class the rules state clearly up and til end of june to protest a riders elgibilty.

I am sure the process will weed out all the baggers in that class. there were a few dq'd up here and more to come.

a new rule needs to be in place. If you are caught dropping a level of classification, you lose your ama card for a period of time.... or something like that.

with contingency at regionals. a rider goes and finishes well, then after the results are sent off, and he gets contingency, then he get's dq'd. (if that happens that way) then it would be a "profitable" dq.

The rules prohibit this from happening.

A protest doesn't prohibit the rider from competing. If found to be not with in the rules, he will be DQ'd.

If you don't want to name names, it must not be that important.

If you have a question and call the MX sports office that they can't answer, they will give you the number to contact Jeff Canfield, who is (IMO) the one that this question should be directed towards.

Exactly; the rider can compete "under protest"....that's the exact wording.

They say it very specifically at the riders meeting for every one of these events....I know because I am the one that said it in New Hampshire.

MX Sports would be who you would contact if you wish to protest, not DC on the Vital forum. This topic is one that is discussed in every novice and Amateur class at every race there is across the country. The top guys are always bagged on for being to fast or succesfull and people say there sanbaggers. MX Sports does a great job of veryifying everyones rank and history is acceptable per the AMA rule book, and ensures a very fair playing field for all classes. From what I've seen this class has been a huge success and gives the average Vet guy a fair chance at getting the oppurtunity to particate in this event. Its the only class that gives the 40 hour a week working, blue collar, amateur rider with very minimal support this chance. Its a great addition to the event and the sport. This just my .02 . Thanks

I was there and running that class. I know myself and 8 others protested. The particular individual RAN 450 pro sport in 2009. He also had raced pro classes from 1999 on. Apparently you go and give the AMA a sob story and they let you drop down. I am sure DC already knows who he is. 2 of my buddies texted me after our first moto that have watched him race pro classes and competed against him in past years.

Whats next letting Jeff Stanton or Emig drop down?

Sad what people will do...

I haven't been to LL since '92 in the Pro classes. I haven't lined up to race a real race since '08.

I still would never consider racing in anything but Pro or Vet Pro classes. Once a Pro always a Pro!

I know down here we have a vet pro class. Perhaps in the future at LL there could be a class for that? Look at who is lining up this weekend in the 35+ class for the southeast regional:

Tim Ferry
Clark Stiles
Ronnie Renner
Scott Sheak.

I am not sure if Ricky is doing the 25+ class.

45+ has a 2 time world champion also, Trampas Parker.

If nothing else, it will be a good week at the Ranch to be a spectator. I'm going whether I have family racing or not, even if it's just for a few days and not the whole week.

Oh yeah dont get me wrong I am going to watch this weekend for sure. And they are running the classes they should be.

My buddy Jaime Adams will be in the 40 and 45 plus classes. He is on here also as vet34motoxer. Like I said, should be some great racing.

the AMA sux cock when it comes to cry babies going back to B or C . any little BS letter saying " i was injured" or "haven't raced in years" works. total BS. it's all over the place in District 6 90% Vet riders. i line up every weekend in 40 B against plenty of ex A riders. and some past Pro's as well.

+25 is not defined as A, B or C. Open to all class designations.

+30 is B/C only. Anyone that has raced A or professionally will never be allowed to ride that class.

All that has to happen is his name is sent to MX Sports. I would be amazed if he was "allowed" to drop down and race that class.

Happens every year at this time. I understand wanting to compete at LL's, but it gets a bit ridiculos at times..

I can see it being hard for them to fill a gate at an Am. National with Vet Pro riders so I can understand the 25+ being open.

It just doesn't seem right for the list of riders in the 35+ class ehr400 mentioned to be racing with B and C riders. I know if I was a B class rider I wouldn't spend the time and money to go all the way there and have to race aginst former AMA Pro class winners.

Carmichael, Ferry, Sheak and Parker... ouch!

Even without those names on the list, any B or C rider can't compete in the age classes.

The level of competition is way to high. That's why it's called Am National Championship.

That's also why so many people attempt to sandbag their way into the wrong classes there.

DC, thank you for making all this possible. I'd hate to be in your shoes with all you do, but you do a great job of making things as fair as possible.

I wish more guys had your attitude. I often wonder how they feel good about their results when they drop down a class.

This sounds like a situation that Kip (or DC) will not allow so maybe just getting the name of the rider into the right hands will resolve this. Pro license guys won't ride B/C.

The other side of this is the idea of Vet riders objecting to lining up against RC, Ferry, Sheak etc.................. how many of these guys would truely be competitive for a top finish if none of these big name riders were there ??? My guess is not many.

Why not enjoy the experience and have fun lining up next to guys that were(still are) our racing heros ?? There are VERY few guys that can truely compete for a top spot at LL....so go live it up at the race, have fun and take in all that LL has to offer. Be part of the event and stop worrying about 11th place vs 14th place. What other event are most of us mortals going to race in and line up with some big names ??

Be thankful that these guys still want to race........how cool is it that they still have the fire ?? If they are the correct age for the class they should line up.

Well Tom as a former Michigander I have to disagree. I think that it is cool having them there but how about letting Joe blow live out his LL dream? These former pros have more then likely attended or won LL championships in their younger years and made a living or raced pro that a majority have vet riders have not. I understand how the rules are but there alot more who people who I have talked to over the years who agree that there should be a class for former pros. Anyways flame on. Lol.

I disagree with you also TomZ. If you take out all the former AMA Pros then the first few lagitament B class riders are now in contention for a top finish. No B rider has a chance to be competitive if they are forced to race professionals.
