Fifth overall isn't bad for an old, washed up guy that can't run the pace of the kids. Shame on you naysayers!

Pretty good showing for that Stewart kid too, on a bike he's not even used to yet.

It's stupid that he's even allowed to ride the class. I wonder what position he'd have gotten on the 450.

Ive come to the conclusion. Some riders just are not capable on the 450s

Now, i applaud tedesco because its still takes aton of skill to ride a 250f at the pace these guys go.

Oops, thought CycleNews said fifth OA, with his 5/6 finishes.

Why is it stupid?

I think you should be able to race what ever you want to race.

Did you think it was stupid when they allowed RC to drop down to get the 125 wins record at that time?

The 250 class outdoors is NOT, I repeat, NOT a feeder class like the Lites class is in SX. IT9 can and should ride that class as long as he wants to.

Surprised the heck out of me, in a good way. I like Ivan but didn't think he would be capable of running the pace of the young guys.

Well done!

Saying Stewart isn't use to a Suzuki is a stretch. He motoed down on one under the eye of the factory team over the off-season and he's been on it again at least since his "hand injury" in Houston.

He did great I thought. This class is crazy balls and if you aren't willing to ride like that, breaking into the top 5 is pretty hard. Kudos to him.

Hey if your impressed with 5th, than awesome for you...and if Ivan is happy with that, good for him.
To me it looks silly for a guy to drop down from the top class to get his ass handed to him by 4 other people.

What this has shown me is that those 4 people who beat him should move up to the 450 class, including taking Ivans spot.

What your post has shown me, is that you are an idiot.

IT rocked it, and actually rode the 250 better and more aggressively than he does the 450. PRO is PRO, regardless of bike size.

Now go crawl back into your mommy's house and next time, ask permission before you use the internet and spew ignorant rhetoric all over it.

Sorry but you are not too smart pal! I don't know if you noticed but you are implying that anybody riding in the 450 class should be able to jump on a 250f and beat every rider to the finishline week in and week out. Now I see a few problems with that but maybe you figured it out. Do you mind explaining your logic?

I agree and I dont think it should be viewed as a feeder class in SX either.... one of the reasons behind that was that no one had a SX track to practice on 20 years ago except going to the races.

Dont tell me that that Adam Cianciarulo will need to the 250 class to "Learn" SX when he steps up in a few years to prepare himself as he has been riding the Kawasaki test track for a few years already on his 85!!!

Yeah, and that was after they used to make everyone move up.

So all the top amateurs every year go to the 450 class right?

Doing just fine there? If you are short (hehe) or tiny or wathever just race the class you want? Tedesco rode laptimes better than he will ever do on a mighty 450. Isn't USA the country of freedom of choises?

Most of those kids in the lites class have never raced before. It is the beginner class. He should have moved up to the 950 class imo.

The AMA rules state SX Lites is a feeder class, the 250 outdoors is not so where the top amateurs go is irrelevant. If the 250 outdoors was a feeder class riders would "point out" like they do in SX Lites, but guess what? They dont point out, because its not a feeder class. Besides, the reason most "top amateurs" go 250 is because they have JGR or PC support to supply them with $20k 250F engines, those that dont like Heath Harrison or Kyle Regal or any number of others go 450 because they dont have to sink all that money into an engine to compete.

The 125/250 class outdoors has never been, and never will be, a feeder class.

to bad you didnt follow the sport during the full factory backed classes of the 125,250 and open/500 classes.
no matter what you think now, out there to this day, you have a rider that just gels better in a cc class that suits him great.
gee, kinda like that racer that cant ride a yamaha 450.Huh

Here ya go, Mutt.

Ivan did awesome against the kids, and even he'll admit that he's not in shape for outdoor motos at the moment. He's not afraid of hard work, though.

He did hit up the Asterisk Mobile Medical rig after the race for a little fluid replenishment. Not a bad recovery plan, especially since we're headed to Freestone next week.

Mark Barnett dropped down to the 125s after winning not only 3 125 titles but a 250 sx title and almost the 250 national title so he must have been a cherry picker too in your book.
