If Dungey had not been injured he may well have been the 2012 SX champ
If Dungey had not run out of fuel at Freestone he would have been the 2011 MX champ
If Dungey's chain had not come off last year he may well have been the 2011 SX champ

If, if, if....but he didn't. It's just funny to me how much talk there was about asterisks next to Dungey's name after his 2010 SX championship from the RV crowd but nothing after last year's championships or this year.

Let's face it, the guys are so close now in speed and consistency that it comes down to how has less bad luck, and Dungey hasn't had it easy in the last 3 championships he's competed in.

At least his bad luck didn't take him completely out of championships. I don't believe in "If championships" but they
are definately good fodder or bait when nothing else is going on. Nice cast Senor BobbyLaughing

Exactly, its interesting that there has been little talk of how RV's championships were huge *.

I guess its a tribute to RD's fans that are basically nice guys just like RD is! To bad that RD is a good guy so that makes him a bad guy to be a good guyWink or something like that..

Oh and to answer Bobby, yes of course he would have wonSmile

As my old man would tell us, "If if's and but's were berries and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas".

Part of winning is staying healthy and RV was the best at that this year.

It's hard to say whether or not Villopoto would have tried to race through the ACL until SX is over or not. It was quite evident to me that Dungey was getting the KTM all figured out and dialed right when he got injured. My guess is Dungey would have been around (at most) 10 points back when Villopoto injured his knee. After Seattle, Dungey would have probably won it and Villopoto would have left Seattle about 15 points down. After that, Dungey would have played it cool and took 2nd the rest of the way for the championship (if Villopoto even raced the last few rounds). That would be the most likely scenario in my opinion.

If ifs and buts were dicks and nuts, my aunt would have a merry Christmas.

I will say this, though: If Trey hadn't been injured at LA, he would've been up to RV's speed by Oakland and pretty much taken over the championship from there.

The only 450 championships RV2 ever won were gift wrapped by Dungy and more importantly. Team Suzuki

Not only that, they're automatics, because apparently they do the shifting, not the rider.

Funnything...

I was beating the living hell outta one of those VERY SAME gear-boxes ON THE BEACH in Baja in March during the San Felipe 250.

Not -ONE- Single Problem; furthermore, the Actual Transmission I was abusing had already been thru the entire 2011 Canadian National Season.

I'm jus' sayin'...

That was truly a sweet pass and a nail in the coffin. That pass, however, might have had less significance had it not been for a thimble full of gas and a lack of electrical current.

Funnything-2-,

The RMZ fells the Lightest and Narrowest when set-up "correctly"...

W-T-F?

This thing is goin' on SIX YEARS OLD!?

(I took the worm intentionally...I'm that kinda guy...Shhhhh)

the only guys out there who don't think anyone was handed a championship are Dungey and RV. They've both been on either side of that situation and I don't think they sit there thinking "what-if" like we do, they just move on to the next one.

I was thinking a couple weeks ago, if there were no tough blocks in supercross, all other things went as they did, and Trey Canard just got at least a 5th place at every SX race, he would be the SX championship winner. I then realized I had just joined the "what if" club.

Post a reply to: a BIG IF...but if Dungey would not have been injured
