Mike Alessi ate sh*t

7/7/2008 9:32am
The title of this thread should be a bit more respectful. Mike Alessi has been the only one to really push at these nationals and be upset with second place, the only one to want more and to work for it, he and Stewart have separated themselves from the field, but with the speeds they are going and the forces involved, why oh why do so few factory riders wear chest protectors. yeah neck braces too, but there are many internal organs that chest protectors inadvertantly protect.

Prayers are tactless words, Mike Alessi is tough and determined so we should credit his strength and will for a speedy recovery and not words from nay saying internet bench racers.

What if they had lights before the jumps like Glen Helen does for showing what type of jump it is and the flagger would trip the light it would make it easier for one flagger to stand with a good vantage point and alert riders earlier.

i agree the thread title is disrespectful and just plain dumb. seriously . as far as mike alessi goes - that was one bad BAD crash ( well the getting hit by other riders part anyway , i've had that happen racing and it HURTS like a sonofabitch ) the kid is tough and fast NO DOUBT. He deserves respect from fans of the sport , and if you are not a fan then what are you doing on here??? i realise i maybe a "noob" around here but some people on here really need to grow up a little. i come here to get news and info , not to read schoolyard craptalk. how can anyone knock the guy ? has ANYONE been in front of james stewart besides alessi ? ? i wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to him coming back . and as far as renner going back, gee , you see SO many acts of unselfishness these days dont you? WELL DONE RICKY btw - seemed to take a loooooooong time for help to arrive didnt it?

Watching that almost makes me glad he was unconscious at the time.

I've fallen on the first lap in front of a full gate and been tagged by the riders behind me as I was stuck in the middle of the track hidden on the backside of a jump. It was the scariest thing I've ever been through personally. All tucked up in the fetal position surrounded by buzzing bikes all around you. Eyes closed, every muscle tight. Waiting for the next impact. Not knowing where it's going to come from.

At least Mike was saved the terror of the moment.

It always makes me sick to see someone out cold like that though. He didn't rag doll too bad from what I saw in the video, but he sure picked a bad spot to wind up on the track. Here's hoping he heals quick and suffers no long term damage from this incident.

OMFG!

That kid just used 8 lives.

Renner did good.

I assumed since the flagger walked down to the blind side of the jump, there was another one up top? If not, that dude is an ass. Actually, he may be an ass anyway, since it appeared the whole pack made it by without slowing down.

Does anyone have an address we can send some get well cards? Bobby, or Slo? I don't want it to seem like he's more important than other riders injured, but the kid has really turned a corner the last couple seasons and he should know that people see that and are happy to see him growing up after his first few years of questionable decisions.

God that was awful.. Get well soon Mikey.

Well done Ricky.

Ricky lent me a new 450 last year for LL's when I was concerned my one year old bike might not survive the week. Thanks.

Nice family.

Scott, here is your entire post that I quoted from.

======
He didnt say he wished James to get hurt....you guys need to stop acting like he wished death on him.

I think we would all like to see a James come from behind attempt.
=======
The title of the post was/is “Hope Stewart goes down in the first turn..”
=======
If you are a fan of ANY of the riders and the sport why would you CHOOSE to lessen that statement in any way, shape or form? You could have said nothing - sometimes less is more. Do you dislike James that much?

It’s ironic that within minutes of the post being made the rider, Mike Alessi, that you proclaimed was going to win the MX title was the one that was injured.

MX – be it local, regional, amateur nationals or professional nationals, etc. is not rehearsal. I don’t think Stewart has had less than 35 national professionals on 450’s behind him in the first turn all year – and they are always trying to get in front of him. They don’t use blinkers. Again, it ain’t rehearsal. This shit is dangerous and riders die every month.

How many times has someone posted about a rider dying doing this stuff? You can’t plan these things. Do you think James said to the 39 other riders “Hey guys, someone posted online that they hope I go down in the first turn – be gentle, try not to run over my face.”

Yes I’m an actor (which has absolutely nothing to do with this and I’m not sure why you brought it up), but I also know how to act like I have good sense.

FYI, I would never support a post saying “I hope Scott Kalisch goes down in the first turn of a jet-ski race”. Why? Because I’m sure you’d holeshot the race and I wouldn’t want you to get run over by the other jet-skis, get knocked out and possibly drown or whatever.

I finally got to watch the video and holy crap that was bad! Here's to a speedy 100% recovery. Allessi is starting to win me over. Not because of the crash but the heart he has put into daring to beat the "unbeatable"

And Renner has a new fan in me. I've never pulled out of a race to check on another rider but I did have someone pull out to check on me after being piched into a tree tapped out in 4th gear. I never found out who it was (mainly because I was busy counting the Tweety birds flying around my head) but it sure made me feel good just knowing someone was there. Good for you, Renner.

Going back to check on an obviously injured rider, forsaking your results, that does say a lot. I broke my leg on a back section of a track and a competitor I didn't even know came over and stayed with me till the medics arrived.

And there were a couple of posts asking what Renner really did by coming back, if Mikey had been conscious, he would have felt better knowing someone was there for him. It showed class and a concern for a fellow rider.

That was one nasty crash! Get well soon MA800.

It couldn't have happened to a "nicer" guy. MA is a jumped up brat - I had the "pleasure" of having to appease him during a guest appearance at a World MXGP a few years ago - the guy needs a wake-up call ... maybe this will sort him out.
