I just listened to his podcast with Matthes and it was very insightful. He's a true fan and has an huge amount of passion for this sport. I came away believing that it isn't just a job for him, he really loves this sport. He even addressed the haters with class, good for him.

If you haven't listen to the podcast, I recommend it. If you don't Think Ralph is good for the sport the podcast might change your mind.

the internet could be a place where people come together to share their love for a sport....unfortunately these days, all people wanna do is hate.

sad really, my dad always said "if you cant say something nice, then better not saying anything at all"

I think Ralph does a fine job. Definitely has knowledge of the sport.

I love Ralph's passion, he is a great announcer.

So much better than Art Eckman and listening to David Bailey talk about himself the entire race.

I think Ralph does an awesome job. Remember his job is to keep the conversation going and announce like there's people watching that know nothing about the sport. When he says stuff like, "Chad Reed on the #22 Honda" we think that's stupid. However, if you were watching the sport for the first time, you would be very thankful someone gave you that information. Everyone needs to understand that his job is to announce to everyone who might be watching, not just people who have followed the sport for years. He has his flaws of course, but overall I think he does a very good job.

I don't mind Ralph as much as the switching to the battles for 6th when there is actually a batle for the lead.

When Reed hangs it up, I hope he makes his way into the booth. I think he does a good job.

Overall though... things have come very far in a short amount of time.

Remember around 10 years ago when there was a week delay on ESPN2? and then... if it was on after a live college game... you had to be prepared for SX/MX to get bumped if the game went in to OT.

Ralph's alright for sure.

Jabroni on the other hand...sucks real bad.

That podcast gave me a new opinion of Ralph. The guy seems pretty sharp to me.

I think what's needed more is a campaign to think up another line or 2 for Erin, so she can rotate them. The "take us through" is old and I'm getting tired of it. Also to tell the camera guys not to show her profile. She's a beautiful woman, but her head doesn't look good from the side.

Erin is out. She got replaced by Georgia Lindsay for the outdoors.

It is my opinion that nobody should be allowed to have an opinion on Ralph until they have first listened to that podcast and until Speed has at least two broadcasts with only RC & Emig in the booth... All the trigger happy haters will be begging for the true professional to step back in and restore order... His story about Earnhardt, Sr. on the podcast is alone worth listening to the whole thing... And I'll add all this is coming from someone that used to jump the gun and be a RS hater as well, until I was enlightened

I think Ralph does a good job. He's a real professional broadcaster who knows how to carry the airtime. Ralph, Emig and RC have brought a really positive vibe to the booth - Good chemistry with those guys.

Why anyone would long for the drunk with the grandpa voice is beyond me.

I agree.

This is "show business" . Not moto business.

As much as some here don't like this, it's the way that it really is and Ralph does a good job.

Ralph is exactly what the execs in the publicity room are looking for. To get this, watch an old ABC clip of motocross pre 2000. Now the races are packaged for the general public where the growth is needed. Ralph is good at what he does and very sharp about the sport. He is acting while broadcasting adding excitement to the non seasoned spectator. Thats his job. I think it'sn funny how Emig is being pulled the other way to make hime more Hollywood. There all just a continuation of Larry Huffman from the early days. What frosts me is how the sponsors manipulate half the time of the riders' interview by all the shout-outs.

I have nothing but respect for him. He says some bonehead shit sometime but damn that's a tough job. Entertaining the monster truck croud while still keeping our attention. Screw that lol. I definitely like the input from announcers that are past racers like emig Rc and reed.

I can't believe what I'm reading! When I clicked on this thread I expected the typical jackhole Vital negativity.
Ralph does a great job- I enjoy the heck out of the SX shows.

Motocross fans are the pickiest motherfuckers alive with all the insightful knowledge of "their" sport. Even though Ralph has his blunders, he still does a great job and probably 99% better than anyone else out there.

Bulldog got it right with Art and Bailey as much as I respect the both of them. I can't name one announcer in football, baseball, nascar, ect that knows his sport and keeps a halfway interesting coverstaion going than Shaheen does for MX.

Most years he just seems like James cheer leader. This year was a little hard for him to drool all over himself about James.
Second, quit already with the "he's really going to make a statement". Davi made no statement for JGR getting a 2nd when all the fast guys were out. It definitely was an accomplishment but really had the top guys stayed healthy where's Davi? Not even top 5. So please stop already with the "statement" all the time.
Lastly, when you're doing a Q&A with RC & Emig, Step back a foot or 2. As it is, it just looks so disrespectful to turn your back on your coworkers like they don't exist. It just seems rude. Alter those 3 things and my opinion of Ralph goes up.

You have got to be kidding me... Clearly you do not listen to any other sports brodcasters.
