Wow i just realized this place is full of saints. lol. You guys make it sound like you never said anything bad about your parents? I find it hard to believe but I suppose stranger things have happened. Also how many of you turds are on BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE? You guys make such big deals about trivial shit. lol. Carry on.

OP, just keep asking your parents for it, eventually they'll give in. It works for my kids lol.

This may sound stupid but I can promise you if you pursue it you will be rolling in dough and learn a great deal about life, responsibility, business, etc....

Print up some flyers and put them on doors around your neighborhood for a service to clean up dog crap out of peoples yards. You laugh, but a kid your age can RAKE IN THE CASH doing this. A tiny bit of online research will help you figure out pricing and some other good details, but other than that, it's a great way to bring in REALLY GOOD MONEY for a high school kid, work flexible hours, run your own business, etc...

Just make sure that YOU DO A GOOD JOB, YOU DELIVER WHAT YOU PROMISE, WHEN YOU PROMISE IT and you will be shocked at the results. You could easily be bringing in $200 a week just working an hour or 2 each day after school leaving the weekends open to ride.

There are adults all over the country that are running this type of business and doing quite well. I wish I would have thought about it when I was your age.....

If it's worth having...

Then it should be worth Earning.

I had to go buy my 1st race-bike secretly so as to be able to race in the 1st place: I got a ration of shit for spending MY OWN money on such a dangerous thing (As my friends were getting major Ortho-Surgeries in our 1st & 2nd yrs of High-School due to "Safe" sports like Football, etc.).

Then, I got a ration of shit from my Hi-School Coaches for riding Moto (Even tho I WON my 1st damn race GOING AWAY!).

I've been working since I was 12; so, you'll have to forgive me if a kid that lives just down the road from Danny LaPorte wants a new helmet and is having a hard-time coming up with the scratch...(It's not like y'all be Po'Folk up in MH Beach, Dog!)

Btw, buy a good helmet and QUIT LEAVING IT ON THE END OF YOUR BARS!

Good luck. Ride ALL THE TIME while you can!

There's a great life lesson to pass along. "Just beg, eventually you will get your way".

Atleast when I hear the phrase "..some peoples kids!" I will know who they are talking about.

I'm 17 y/o, ridden since i was six, and i've always bought my gear all by myself, sure at the beginning I got the money from my parents, but I had to work for it.
If you want new stuff and your parents wont buy it for you, buy it yourself

You're all idiots... its called getting fast, getting sponsored and getting free shit. Solves all the problems!

So remember that kid, just hold that thing tapped when you ride it.

Go to you local biks shop and offer to help around the place- sweep floors. Look what it did for Johnny 'O.

Plus you get the employee discount on your helmet.

Maybe your local track needs help picking up rocks, flagging, or working the gate. You gotta be creative. Getting stuff handed to you as a kid will just give you less initiative later in life.

Lol! on the same hand you guys are dogging the kid, well what about the dad that keeps letting his kid ride with a jacked up helmet and is quote " a cheap bastard" but not cheap enough to keep his kid off the bike until he gets a new helmet. Who needs a lesson here? the kid or the dad? He could easily say no more riding til you buy a helmet, or he could just buy the fucking helmet to keep his kid safe and then make him WORK it off. You can't attack his dad so people just go after the next best thing the OP.......

Being rational around here is frowned upon I know but use a little common sense once in awhile. It's easier to just bag on the poster?

as far as my kids, The say NO MAM, YES MAM AND NO SIR AND YES SIR. Old SKOOL!!! (yes I spelled it wrong on purpose) I spoil my kids but they have chores and they are VERY respectful to others. They know you have to work for what you want.

Im 21 so I somewhat can relate to how you may feel. My parents paid for all of my racing until I turned 16. At 16 I graduated high school and got my last paid for bike by my parents. It is an 08 RMZ 250f which still looks and runs mint cuz I take care of it. If I left my helmet on the bar end of my bike and it fell over my dad would've packed up everything and we wouldve went home cuz that was considered disrespectful and ungrateful. I however was on the high honor roll most of the time and if I had below a C in any class it was not racing or riding for me. To be honest it sounds like you might be a little unappreciative.

Does the kid need to learn a litte respect on an online forum..sure and steering him in the right direction is fine. I'm sure he respects his dad fine in person, it's just the way it came off in the post that got everyones hemorrhoids flared up. Believe me kid, don't let the holier than thou tampons here let you think they acted any differently at that age.

I was doing way worse shit at 17 than referring to my dad as a cheap ol' bastard.

My dad used to buy me some gear every once in a wile we were not the poorest people on the track by far but we sure did look like it because i never took care of anything and thought that if anything happend i would get it replaced. ha but when i was 13 my dad passed away. so since then i have bout 2 250f and 2 450s brand new i have worked my ass off for everything i have and when you start to buy stuff on your own you appreciate it more and actually take care of things. So i suggest you buy it yourself because after it leaves that dent in your pocket you want it to stay as nice as possible so you dont have to spend the money again. respect your gear and motorcycle.

As a kid, do you think it is unreasonable for your parents to buy you new/bigger gear? especially protective gear? I need a new helmet and my dad is such a cheap bastard he wont buy me a new helmet even though mine is 3 years old and the foam is pressed in a couple places from the bike falling over while the helmet was on the handlebar. Do you think im being reasonable by asking them to buy me a new one? let me know, cuz you would think that a mom or dad would want their child safe to the extent that they would buy them a proper fitting helmet?...idk maybe its just me.
this is a bullshit question, you are a bullshitter and us bullshitters won't tolerate it.

and if one muthafucker answered this bullshitter seriously...they are not worthy of being a bullshitter

+1. You can see what these parenting strategies will produce by looking at the occupy wall street crowd.

I haven't read what others have said but being a parent myself I would sell your bike, blister your ass, and teach you some manners if you talked like that to me or about me. That's your father and maybe money is tight. If it's that important do some chores for the neighbors and buy your own dang helmet.

While i agree that he should get a job, bikes weren't 9k when I grew up. You could actually get a summer job and buy a bike. Unfortunately, prices have outpace wages.. That being said, a new helmet is well within a kids budget....get a job slacker. I bet you rethink your need for that extra $$$$ for graphics.

Ever hear of a used bike? I bought mine used. Cost me $800. Worked three paper routes (two in the morning, one in the afternoon), then when I turned 14 (old enough to work part time), I worked at a grocery store bagging groceries.

KX125

RM250

Why would he have to buy new?

I'm a father and it's a birth right in our house to have the safest gear on and ride the most mechanically sound motorcycles possible.

Your dad is not only a cheap bastard, but is also an idiot for knowing that you need a new helmet and for not getting the best equipment money can buy to protect his son from injury.

I don't care If my son was 5, 10, 15, or 25 years old, he'd have the best damn helmet my money can buy on his head.

And this is coming from a guy that raced with gear bought at the swap meet (luckily JT sold all their racers old gear at our local swap meet!) and raced on a bike I bought with a paper route.

For the history buffs out there, I bought some blue with white JT riding pants with "Good Guys" butt patch lettering on them for $10. Wish I still had them. Raced in them for years and didn't even know what I had.
