A more plausible question with the way things have gone is: does he complete 24 motos? Does he win 5 motos? Does he win an overall? Is he even competitive with Dungey? Will he be able to buy a start? If he can't get a start, he will struggle with those he shouldn't be struggling with. Even in 2010, Dungey only started out of the top 5 in a few motos and in those motos he went 10-6-DNF. Every other other moto he was top 5 off the start.
I would be looking for James to do well outdoors, but the fans make it necessary for me to hope he runs 30 seconds behind Dungey so they just go away like they did for so long during SX. I saw the videos of him riding and there is nothing there that made me go "oh my God!, he looks insanely fast". The plastic is yellow, but it could have been blue all the same. I heard all the same hype about his whips and scrubs on the Yamaha before 2012 began (oh and quads) and we saw how that translated into race results. Right now I have the same guarded anticipation of how he will do that I had pre-2011 and pre-2012 SX. I understand why people have such high expectation, it's James Stewart! At the same time, plenty of athletes have suddenly lost it when others the same age haven't, only they have no bike to blame.
I really don't hate James, it's the portion of his fans that don't seem to be rooted in reality that I can't stand. And it's the same in any sport; Yankee fans, Cowboy fans.....those are the two that immediately come to mind as being universally unable to take. For some reason those with moto-knowledge (even if they are Stew fans) realize that James is human and winning outdoor MX is a very difficult task.

24-0, is very unlikely by anyone. So many things have to go right, starts, mechanicals, crashes, other riders, etc. Thats why it is so special, and why it is done so rarely.
Where James' "issues" in his head or was it the bike? It really doesnt matter, if he "believes" it was the bike then it was the bike. MX/SX is soooo dependent on a riders comfort level that issues can become reality to a rider even if they do not exist. I have seen a rider turn consistantly faster lap times and be more confident just based on a "perceived" improvement in there suspension when all that was done was wiping the legs off with a rag.
If James really did not think it was a bike issue then he would still be on the JGR bike, and as he stated he walked away from alot of money to get on a bike that he was comfortable with. We have all seen riders struggle, almost walk (or limp) away from bikes that they did not feel good on, only to come back and be great. Windham, Reed, and McGrath all come to mind?
24-0, most likely not, but lets just enjoy the show week by week and hope for good racing!!!
did you learn your lesson?
Pit Row
I dont see RV or RD pulling it off either.
Thanks for that because It was not interesting to me see the same rider wipe out the rest all the time.
