(Slightly off topic from where the thread is headed.) I was there that day at LL's. Stewarts few exhibition laps before Alessi's race were the most impressive laps that I have ever seen at LL's. He blitzed the 10 commandments. He doubled the two singles (that nobody else did all day) from the inside on a stock (supposedly) KX250. JS and IT's whips over the large tabletop were actually scary to watch.

So James rode down and found him, and gave him the finger to get out here and battle. Alessi just shrugged his shoulders. James later said that he didnt look impressive out there. He said Alessi wasnt doing things that James would be doing on a 110.

I think Mike would tell you, that he's not the most naturally talented rider on the track. However, he is somewhere around a top 20 mx/sx rider in the world. That puts him in pretty elite company.
