If Pourcel is a quitter, what does that make Stewart? Pourcel got off that terrible bike before it was too late. Defiantly a good decision.
Everts and Carmichael for their incredible records. They are also great ambassadeurs for the sport. Everts is also a really nice guy. Haven't spoken to Carmichael enough to make a judgement.
Among todays racers I cheer for Christophe Pourcel. Remember when i saw him the first time on a KX125 in the gp's. I don't dislike anyone in particular except Carlosmacho here at Vital.

Number one is probably Ryan Dungey... nice style, humble, never gives up and really dedicated.
Also like Reed... great style and really smart on the track.
Cairoli is cool too, humble, has a bit of flash when he rides and is just like a terrier on the track.
Trey Canard....falls into the same category as Dungey
Pourcel is amazing to watch just because he is so smooth and effortless.
Like the new kids like Herlings and Roczen mainly for their stupendous talent at such a young age. Also like Tomac, smart rider and very down to earth. Also Arnaud Tonus is fantastic too watch as well.
Should also add RV, not a fan of his style, but he has that rare ability to perform under pressure like not many I have ever seen. True Champion.
My favourites in the eras previous were firstly Greg Albertyn came from South Africa won everything with pure determination. Stefan Everts and Jeremy McGrath were just amazing to watch in Supercross and motocross. RCs dedication and will to win always amazed me too. Steve Ramon was great to wastch, also Chicco Chiodi, he was like a shorter version of Everts in the mid 90s,,, fantastic rider.
I don't always agree with him but overall I'm quite a fan of Chad Reed. It's not because he speaks his mind but rather with what he generally has to say and the way he says it - he has a very informal style to his interviews. I also think he's got better in that regard as the years have gone on. If Steve Matthes interviews Ryan Villopoto then truth be told I probably won't bother it. On the other hand if he interviews Chad Reed I will 100% make the effort to tune in because I know it's going to be interesting. Same with RacerX or whoever is doing the interview. Chad also has probably the coolest riding style in the sport.
A close runner up is Ryan Dungey because I think he's basically an al right, down to earth and approachable person (that's my impression anyway). A few years back when Josh Hill and Jason Lawrence were trying to get into his head, playing mind games, messing him up in practice... I really find that type of thing distasteful. As a result I was very pleased to see RD prevail in 2010.
Honourable mention to Grant Langston for very much the same reasons as my Chad Reed pick.

3nd Johnny O'Show O'Mara: 80s version of Marty Smith, Cool fast and Stylish.
4th David Bailey: Super Smooth and Stylish.
5th Jeremy McGrath: Attitude and Charisma.
6th Ricky Carmichael: Work ethic.
7th Ryan Dungey: Never give up attitude, seems like a nice humble guy.
For me: Stewart, Canard...and probably Tomac. It just feels right rooting for them.
Stewart is always a tricky one, though. How can it feel "right" rooting for someone whose heart isn't in it? Or is his heart in it? Who's to say? And if it's not, can I blame him? Etc., etc, etc, etc, etc. It might all come down to outdoors for me. If he stays on the Yam and doesn't race--A LOT--me and Stew could be through. Don't quote me on it, but, dude, James, you gotta try and help yourself here.
I also like RV, Dungey, Wilson, Barcia, Roczen, Musquin...even Pourcel. Don't really like Reed, but...R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
