This guy would.

I'd think we'd see less injuries and the racing would be umm, racier.

250cc limit in the premiere class - any stroke goes.

150cc limit in the junior class - any stroke goes.

450s outdoor ? Oh hell yes.

Discuss, with beer and nachos.

And NO cross-jumping !

7" maximum suspension. You can make all the power you want, if you can't control it no sense in clipping the cc's

Injuries will always be there. Take away the purse, the crowd the stadium. As long as people make things to go hog wild on, people will in fact go hog wild on them.

Remember 450's are racing the SX track in second and third.

Its sounds like it just could really happen in the near future. Then I would have to say the 450 would eventually be phased out just like the open class.

Matters not what gear they're in, sir - too much power and too much weight for indoors.

Its not just me saying it.

For those of us who care. I can remember when the same thing was said about the open class.. They were the premire class. The 250 was nothing more then a college boy class.

yep get rid of them indoors on the tight tracks.

let them go in the outdoors.

these modern day 250f's are plenty for indoors. bring back the tiddler class for lites...omy that would rock.

It pretty much sucks for privateers now, i don't see how changing the cc requirements would make their lives any tougher.

If you change the class requirements, the mfrs would build bikes to fit those classes, it might take a couple years,

but they'd adapt. The question arises are the promoters or sanctioning body willing to take that risk and alter the

playing field ? Doubtful, but it needs done.

I'm not saying this as a 450 loving psycho or anything....but those bikes aren't going anywhere anytime soon in SX or MX. Those bikes are waaaaay to good right now and there is no way in hell that they are going to give them up for anything else for a long time to come.

Nossir - the Open class (500cc) went away because of poor bike sales, it got down to where Honda and Kaw were the only

ones building 'em - and they lacked refinement due to little R&D - due to poor bike sales....

Clip their hamstrings. Not their heart.

What I am saying is, I have no problem losing 200 cc's on any of the bikes. As long as they are long legged they are still going to as dangerous. 7" of suspension today is not the same as 7" of suspension we rode on in the 70's. Slow the bikes down.

That's a lot to ask. It has never worked or been that way.

also the 250 f class (i refuse to consider a 250 a LITES bike) they typically run within a second of 450 lap times.

It's not that I don't see what you're saying.....I do. I just think it would be really hard for teams and riders to come to terms to give up something so good.

Yeah......I highly doubt we will see the 450 be phased out by anything anytime soon. 250 2-strokes might give the 250 4-strokes a fight......but nothing is going to challenge the 450's for a long time to come in pro SX and MX.

I agree but not because the are so awesome. I would say it is because our sanctioning body is not autonomous and really has no power to guide the sport. If NASCAR wanted to run 4 cyl engines, next year they could/would line up with a full field. There would be bitching and moaning but there would be a full field at Daytona.

Sometimes the races are burn-burners, sometimes they're a dud. It's that way in all classes. It's fun to remember the great battles on 250s in the past, but just as many were snoozers too.

I think 250Fs have been a disaster for the sport, but the 450s are good bikes. They can put on a great race when there's a healthy field.

So why don't we just change the rules and let the 500cc twostrokes race against the 450's just in the outdoor series. I know some priveteers that would prove the 500cc twostrokes are still King of the outdoors.!

I say we need three classes again: 250F/150T; 350F/250T; 520F/400T. And no open class in SX.

A privateer on a 500 2-stroke is going to prove that it's still the king of the outdoors against RV, Dungey, Reed, Etc....on 4-strokes?

some REAL privateers race 450s because the expense of making a 250f competitive has gone through the roof. Not to mention that the 250f don't last long enough with a pro riders on them. This would definatelly increase the costs for privateers.

ANd since we are dreaming...To decrease costs...

1)CC for CC racing... allow the damn 2 stroke already.

2) leave the open class and add a 125cc class. The races are only 15 min a piece, they can squeeze in another moto or two. I think we could do without 15 min of fireworks, intros, and t shirt cannons anyhow. Even if they just run the main event in the night show and do the qualifiers during the day. Or run a 2 moto format?

with these 2 steps you have accomplished making racing cheaper as well as providing another entry class. The girls could possibly ride the 125 class with success? The additional entry class needs to be monitored for upgrades. NO high dollar trannys, no $10K fork legs. Make it a true spec class for stock bikes. force the top 5-10 in the class each year to move up... allowing for new blood.

Well I do not know him personally but isn't Chad Reed basically a priveteer? Or say his team?

What's he going to be riding? They haven't made a 500 2 stroke in over a decade? I love 2 strokes but a 450 is way better than a 500 2 stroke. If someone made a modern say 300-325 then you may have something but all a 500 does is make your hands numb.
