So, I bit the bullet an got the package to watch the GP's. $95. Love the races, wanted to see them even though they basically doubled the price for less coverage this year.

I wanted to play with streaming the broadcast wirelessly from our IPad through the Apple TV to the big screen, which requires the App for the IPad/Phone/Touch. But if you access the races through the app on a mobile device, you have to pay again, $8 per race, even if you've already pitched your $95 at YS for MXLife TV.

I'll be glad to have someone show me I'm wrong, but until then, screw that.

That they are. I'm disgusted of myself giving them my money. Youthstream is the cancer of this sport.

They are thieves.

As much as I love GP motocross, I'd rather not watch it than give the mafia that is Youthstream any of my hard earned money.

So glad they didn't get the AMA nationals a few years back! DC and crew have done a great job.

Tell me about it! They didnt even offer me a free access code like they did last year, thinking of going on strike and not posting any of their PR's, which i have been doing for over 3 years! I sent them an email asking about it for the 2012 season, and what did i get in response? more PR's.

AAAND what happened to showing saturday's qualifying races? I love how MX-Life's logo says "don't miss any action in 2012".. Well, I effing tried not to!

4/10/2012 9:29am
thank fuck for Sky Tv is all i'm saying !

you lot get the AMA stuff sweet and we have to struggle, we get the GP's sweet and you have to struggle - neither are favourable to the fans......

paying for extras is total BS though, you should be able to buy the package and choose how to watch - not difficult is it - i hate robbers.

I don't like the sneaky way they go about it, but when you compare it to the PPV prices of HBO, ESPN, Sky Box Office in the UK or Main Event in Australia... I'd say YS were more butt pinchers.

Not sure what kind of computer you have, but I hooked my Mac Book Pro via HDMI cable through the mini port, close the lid with blue tooth keyboard and mouse now my computer is on the big screen, I put the computer in the cabinet never see it. Screw Apple TV that thing is a rip off, the cable total ran about $30.00, you don't really need the whole wireless key board and mouse unless you want to completely disable your laptop screen. Now if I miss a race find it in HD on Youtube and I'm back in business on my moto fix, also for working in excel spread sheets, word docs., ect. its nice.

I have no problem running the hdmi cable from my mac to the TV. The new AppleTv is not a rip off, and the ability to mirror off IOS devices is pretty cool.

But this isn't about how you put it on the flat screen. Say you're away from home and want to watch on the event live IPad or IPhone. You have to pay again to see it if you're already bought the regular MX Life package.

My advice if you have an IPad is skip the regular package and pay the money toward an Apple TV that for the same money as the regular MXLife package will get you a lot more and you can just wirelessly run the video to your tv and have watch the races elsewhere as well.

I do the same thing.

For the GPs ill wait until its posted on here and then just watch it that way. I like watching the GPs but for me the 100 bucks would be better used for something on my dirt scooter.

im no computer genius and i was thinking of getting the Mx life service so I could watch the races. ..but I haven't look into it much..

Is this the kind of service where the feed hangs up every min or so while it reloads or is the feed fairly constant?
Or is it something i can download and watch at my convenience later?

The feed is clean if you're internet speed is good.

They took the Prize Money and said they would use it to help promote the Sport so Teams could get more support, then they started charging the Teams big bucks per rider to race all in the name of promoting them and the coverage has gotten worse every year since.

I like the GP's but they are not getting any of my hard earned money.

so says the capitalist...on the signup page of the website: Only free videos are available on iPad.

On a related note, there are other browsers out there that can make your pad appear as a desktop computer. Might be able to go that route so you can log in to the live stream.

At least on the regular system, you can watch later (don't think it's so with the app after a certain time). I'm not sure you're actually downloading them, though. There's a lot of old content to enjoy, including past MXdN races. Content isn't so much the issue; paying for each for orifice you get pumped in is IMO.

What does the sanctioning body have to do with it? I'm not getting that part.

In that case wouldn't you say AMA, FIM Youthstreem, and MxSports.

I paid for the package last year and the year before......this I am not going to. I get to watch all the US nationals , SX and a lot of special one- off races here with my Direct TV. I can't justify paying that additional amount to watch their races , when I get to see all ours in HD on my big screen. I would love to support them , but I can't justify paying that amount. I'll wait until someone posts a video or torrent link.

How has the coverage gotten worse every year since?

They started showing both races live on MotorsTV (which satellite customers pay for), they then developed a pretty decent online streaming platform for those without access to MotorsTV for which they charged an introductory price in the first year and they've now signed deals with about six other television networks around the world to broadcast the races live.

For whatever reason they've reconsidered showing the qualification races on mx-life, which might be interesting for a core fan base but ultimately secondary to the Sunday shows and 16 live GP's still costs less then paying for two or three box office fights which sometimes last no longer than one, 3 minute round.

Whats ironic, is that I can be quite cynical myself, yet I often find myself sticking up for YS. Blink When you think of all the other rip-offs in life, a motocross fan complaining about paying a few dollars to watch four live Motocross races just seems a bit odd to me.

I'm not sure what your point is.

There's something incompatible with capitalism and butt raping? Or capitalism and consumer demand and feedback?

Pay content is available on the IPad.

it's odd that someone who backs up against a claim of being a capitalist in a discussion about 2/4 strokes is now bitter that Youthstream acts in a manner consistent with capitalism and you complain.

In past years I looked at the YS website and their packages and thought they were unclear as to what you would get for your money. Seems that I was correct to be suspicious.

To my other point, will an alternate browser work? There is one or two that run flash I think.

But i think last year was better. This year they dont post twitter updates, was good to follow Georgia too, no saturday races, less studio features, interviews,...

hey mike~

there are some proxy systems out there that allow you to log in as though you were based in england, and access things like Motors TV. there are also apps for IOs (like atomic) that spoof a regular computer.
i don't usually promote hacking, but it is guiseppi we're bashing around here, and he still owes me money that i'll never see, so........

You really don't have any fucking clue. My point in the other thread was simple, and it wasn't whether two strokes are better than four strokes. People who make things get to decide what they make and what they charge. People who buy get to choose what they buy and what they pay. In that thread, with has zero to do with this thread, my point only was that consumers share the blame because they bought into buying four strokes and left two strokes on the floor. Is there any dispute about that?

And how in the world does that make it "odd" in this thread that I, as a consumer, would say that I'm not buying what they're selling? That they are asking too much?

Thanks for proving that the two-stroke issue makes otherwise decent people, which I assume you are, blind fuck crazy.

Post a reply to: They really are butt rapers at YS, eh?
