Still not sure how having the intake tract within inches of the exhaust and the extra bends required to route the system makes any sense. Time will tell if that is in fact the new design adapted for production bikes.

You can see the heat shield around the pipe so they must be addressing that issue and that EFI doesnt have a fuel bowl
to sit there in the heat makes it less a problem

Using individual sections for the header! wow they cant get pipe forming to be good enough.

No springs forks?

I'd wonder if there is any effect on intake air temperature by having the radiant heat from an exhaust running at WOT so close to the plastic/rubber intake boot....Now I realize that the current crf450 exhaust does travel in close proximity to the boot on the opposite side, but it is not directly below the connection to the cylinder head. Higher intake temps = less HP. But these guys are doing what they do for good reason, so I'm sure there is a benefit to the design.

The intake is too close to the exhaust.

As much as the armchair mechanics think they know better than the factory engineers, technicians and mechanics, I'm quite sure Factory Honda has addressed all the issues and concerns regarding this set up.

We saw one of these hondas at pala last week, the pipe made it obvious it was a pre production bike.

Im assuming the reason for the hand built pipe is because a production pipe would be hydroformed and its cheaper to piece one together and make changes than to have tooling built and then decide to make a change .

Looks like the pipe has a heat shield that may even have a little air flow. I think I will stop reading and stick to looking at the pictures.

I just don't understand why the ever increasing length of the headpipes keeps going....is it for sound? Is it for power? It certainly adds weight and having it route by the shock ala yamaha AND the intake? I see a mess of problems arising from this design in production

I like the rebuttal to "honda would never release something that could be bad" they have had some great follies... You know one thing I've been thinking about is that with the 4 strokes taking over I wonder us anyone has given any thought to changing the wheel sizes based in how the bike reacts and responds they certainly handle different in every facet compared to a 2 stroke

Notice the hydraulic clutch... That will be standard in 13 as well from what I hear.

You're looking at the front fender and an extended piece that covers the larger radiator. Note how far the radiator goes below the original shroud.

Tickle is running the SFF air forks on his bike now.

that pipe is gonna melt clutch cables or force you to buy a relocation kit, if honda didnt work that into the plans....
