Bar setup for taller riders

For those 6ft+ riders, How do you guys prefer your bar setup? Do you have the bars shifted forward, backwards or neutral?

Also, What bar and bend seems to works best for you?

I use the renthal twin wall RC bend with the bars forward works the best for me im 6 1

Rox speed risers. The best feature [imo] is not only raising the bars up but forward, opening up the cockpit for long arms. [but I'm ginormous.....6' 9" but I know some 6'3" shorties that use them]

SDG Tall Seat, Fastway Pegs, and Bar risers or really tall bars

It makes a WORLD of difference, makes the bakie far more balanced for me and easier to move around on

I always ran Pro Taper Windham bend and rolled them forward around +2 or 3. I never tried bar risers but always wanted to. Im 6ft 2in.

I just run the 996 twin walls and Ride eng clamp. (pretty sure they are +10mm higher)
I found the Tall seat brought the center of gravity up to high for my likings.
Im 6'1"

x2 i run the same bend(i run both the twinwall and regular bend on different bikes), which is also the stock Honda, Kawasaki bend. i have my bars slightly more forward than the degree of the fork. with the Pro Taper 1 1/8" adapters spun to the forward position which i believe is 5mm forward. other than that the rest of my bike is no different set-up. this is currently on a Kawasaki. when i used to ride Hondas (crf's) i had pegs that lowered aswell. i am 6'4"

I'm 6', and after years of not doing it (because I think it looks stupid), I just put 30mm bar risers on, and it's the greatest thing I've ever done! I can't believe I've never done it before. I bought the Tusk risers from Rocky Mountain ATV for $30.

I'm just shy of 6'-6" and I run the Renthal RC High on all my bikes. They are the tallest, straightest bar on the market, with a 119mm rise and a 54mm sweep.

These bars are pricey, but they are one of the best upgrades money can buy, I always talked shit about them until i jumped on my friends bike with a pair, Needless to say after the moto i went out and spent $300. The reduction in arm pump/fatigue is insane.

They have so many sizes and bends it will make your head spin. But for the taller, older rider ..... Awesome.

I'm 6' 2" tall

I use the Carmichael TALL bend and I rotate them forward just a bit.

I'm 6'6" and have always run Pro Taper Cr-Hi's. I hate tall bar risers. You should adjust your levers where they feel most comfortable for you. I stand up a lot and have my levers just a smidgen below neutral.

6'6"+ and I like the Renthal RC-Hi bend. I like to keep them rotated so that they rise in line with the fork angle but I like the bar mounts as far forward as possible on the top triple clamp.

6'1'' but I have longer arms...I use an RC High Renthal Fatbar, rolled ahead to +5. It sounds extreme but feels completely normal on the new Honda chassis.

Wow thanks for all the insight fellas! Good to know there are still some real riders lingering around here. I spent a lot time yesterday messing around with the ergonomics on the bars. I'm definitely going to look into some different bar bends as well. It seemed when I shifted the bars forward it felt more comfortable while standing up but a lil awkward in the corners. Does that seem right?

Renthal 994 bend are really high and pretty straight. I'm 6'3 and they work great. I also run fast way pegs in the low position. I don't care for tall seat tho.

2010 CRF 250, pro taper Windham bends neutral position, furthest forward bar clamp position. Moose -5mm offset footpegs, and an FX tall seat foam. I am 6', but this bike seemed kind of cramped up to me, now it is a little more "roomy".

I'm 6'5" with knuckle dragging monkey arms. Seems a lot of us giraffes have discovered the Renthall RC HI's, and I run the same, along with lowered Fastway pegs. Dont like a taller seat as it makes the CG too high, as someone else mentioned. The bars help tremendously!

im 6'3'' running the RC high bend on a KTM 144 in the forward position of the clamps. I've been contemplating the tall seat as well but haven't bothered yet. Bike looks like a chopper when I'm riding because the rear spring is too soft so need that before the seat.

You know all two well how I feel than. I'm 6'2 ripping it up on a RM 125. The new race tech springs made a helluva difference though!

Another vote for the RC High bend. Depending on the bike, I use bar risers. I also like to have my bars rotated forward to be in-line with the forks. I am 6'3".

6' 1" ktm 350, stock renthal bend. Mounts in forward position but spun around so they are not full forward. Bars rotates back just a hair under the angle of the forks. I used to rotate my bars forward, until I realized it is way easier to corner with them back. Whips for show corners for dough bros

^^^ the pastrana bars are tall but narrow, which imo is not good for us giants with long arms.

I'm 6'4" and run the RC highs, but I wish they were a bit wider, it would make a better angle for my elbows whilst going over whoops/braking bumps. I also use STR lower footpeg mounts, and a guts tall seat. All the raised CG tall seat comments are bs imo. The front of the seat is the exact same height as stock, and thats where you sit while turning, the main benefit of the tall seat for me was having an extra inch of foam in the middle of the seat so my knees grab something while standing.

Its not B.S. if you dont like the way the bike feels with the tall seat. Thats all that matters. And You're only 6'4", so you have no idea what it feels like to someone 6'5". Shorty! Woohoo

The CR Highs are actually 4mm shorter than the stock CRF handlebar and they also have 6mm more sweep. They are far from the best choice for most tall riders, but if you like them, that's all that matters.

6'2 and I also run the RC High bend in a neutral position. Pretty much straight with the forks. I haven't bothered with lower footpegs but wider ones make a HUGE difference. I have the IMS bigfoot ones which are 57mm compared to 45mm on most stock pegs.
