WOW!!!!!!!!!!! How long did that take ya? I almost want to ask how much did it cost to do all that? My son has a 2004 CR250. Maybe you can help me. I would like to change the cylinder on his 04 CR250 to a 05-07 cylinder. Is that possible, will it bolt on his 04 cases? Also I would like to know more about the Keihin carb you choose for your build. I know they perform better on that bike. ThanksCool

Congrats on the rebuild, goes without saying that it turned out great. Attention to detail is top notch. Now go ride it and have a blast. You can always freshen it up again in the future.

Plus as an added bonus you get recognized by the thumper lovers here at vital as one of an elite few (6 actually) who care enough to resurrect a used bike!

Super nice.

I got a garage full of KTMs, but for some reason I keep browsing Craigslist for a Honda CR250. It must be all these sweet builds on here lately.

The TPS Mikuni on your '04 is 75mm long. The aftermarket Keihin PWK and the PWK's from the 99-00 CR250 are 91mm long. They will work, but the late model YZ, RM, KX, SX PWK's are 75mm long, and fit the 04-07 CR250's better. If you go used, there are mostly '00-up YZ carbs available and often for less than $100. The 250SX carb is the best deal for a new one @ $272. The 91mm long aftermarket PWK's from JD Jetting run $247.

If you get a used carb with the powerjet feature, you'll need to plug the powerjet's fuel circuit with epoxy, then rejet the needle, main and pilot jets. A CEJ needle @ clip #4, 180 main jet and 50 pilot jet should work well in your 04.

Looks awesome, i have a question, did the motor cases suffer from pitting? and staining? what did you use to get rid of that?

It's great that this bike got a "second chance at life" so to speak. I have a lot of respect for the effort involved in rebuilding it.
But aren't you over-blinging a little? Colored fuel line? Really?
And then you stick an ugly hose clamp on it?
aaaaaaadonknow.....

Boy what would we ever do without the hose clamp police. It looks great man, definitely factory level. The real question is how does it ride though. Tongue

Turned out great!

If the engine is still stock, I would suggest that you measure the squish with some lead solder. Most 05-07 CR250's are measuring .080" which is .030" more than ideal. If you mill .030" off the base of the cylinder, you'll correct the squish, raise the compression and lower the ports. These things combine to give the low end a big boost and make riding tracks with technical jumps directly out of corners much more enjoyable, and because you have disconnected the the TPS, the reduced ignition timing helps maintain the over-rev. A lot of good things for a $40 mod. The only downside is that you'll need 100 octane fuel.
Cam: Theres a guy in the Race Shop section could use your help. I've been giving him some general knowledge but you could definitely help him more. Jason, I would think you could give him some tips too.
NICE FRIGGIN JOB MAN!!! That bike is pure beauty on two wheels. Great looking bike period, but the fact it's a 2-stroke is even better. Anyone who pooh-poohs those is delusional.
