Interesting nobody in the booth, nor the ama official had ever seen a start like that, yet i had.... I saw it on arenacross coverage a couple weeks ago... I thouht it was some sort of funky arenacross only rule, found out tonight i was wrong...

It was odd for sure, but what else were they supposed to do? They read straight out of the rule book. It was two laps too late for a complete restart BUT the race did have to be stopped for the injured rider.

Wierd sure, but the right call.

Not the ones who want to outshout each other, or to race to see who can post the dumbest insult against one rider or another. I don't want to have to sift through ten tons of crap to find a nugget worth reading. If that means jettisoning a few users to smarten the place up, awesome. If that means that we have to toss a whole bunch, that's fine, too.

That said, I thought the restart was totally fair and effectively put the race back into motion with the riders in the same order as when it was stopped. That IS the point, right? Chalk one up for the AMA tonight.

First of all, it isn't a "staggered start"...That is when you want to run 2 classes from the same gate, and they all don't want to leave the gate together. The "single file" start, (we used to make the riders do it "dead engine"), has been around for 50 years. When we were doing it in the early '90's, it was because we got the idea from some old timers who had done it that way in the '60's, 70's and 80's. Where have some of you been?!? The single file start worked last night just as it is supposed to...perfectly. Smile
