Just curious what people think of this new plastic kit UFO will be importing for the YZ 2 strokes.

Ya I can't decide what to think. It's a step in the right direction for sure. It's cool that you don't need a new tank, subframe, etc. like the VD Laar kit. Pry look pretty good with less euro looking graphics haha.

i do like the vladd racing swap with the 250f plastic and everything else but for 1500 bucks for that stuff is just not worth it, this regular priced UFO replacement stuff looks pretty good, but there's only so much you can do with the existing bolt holes, Overall though i think it will sell, many people are already updating their front fenders and # plates to the 250f stuff so i think it will do well when imported, I'm definitely thinking about picking a set up, my only issue is if they will have each piece in blue/black/white like they have regular plastic

I like it, just enough to modern the look up a little. When are they looking to bring them out??

Interesting. Wonder if they will give old KX/RM/CRs the same treatment. Good idea.

Smart move on UFO's part, considering how many of these bikes are out there, and how many people hold on to them. Other than the front fender and number plate, the plastics have been the same since '02

If the manufacturer refuses to update the product it is only fitting that the aftermarket takes up the slack. There are all kinds of opportunities in the two stroke world, as demonstrated by service Honda...KTM and others. The Japanese are missing the boat again, the two stroke 250 is almost the bike of choice for a majority of riders again here at the local hare scramble races and all the fast young kids ride them at the local moto tracks.

Looks like a blue KTM. Personally I'm not big on the angular lines.

No doubt China's growing, and nothing more I'd like to see than they squash the crap out of the Japanese. However, growth in the international community of today is going to be very tough for them. They're going to have to figure out how to increase their standard of living while remaining competitive with labor rates. India is nipping at their heels for low-tech manufacturing, and shipping/taxes/tariffs stress the price of their product to the point of almost making American manufacturing competitive, at least for product to be assembled and/or sold here in the US. About the only thing that's going to slow that is that the experienced manufacturing experts are disappearing from the US, being replaced by waiters and bankers. Not a good thing.

It's meant to look like the current YZ250F. Same fender and front plate. The side plate is also shaped like the YZ250F, with a piece to look like airbox added. The shroud is their best attempt at making the YZ250F shape, considering half that is visible on the side is the existing gas tank.

2010 YZ 125 conversion to YZF250F bodywork
3/13/2012 9:25am
I like the fenders and side plates, but the YZ125/250 (and RM125/250) Achilles heel is the stupid radiator shroud design. The shrouds should have covered the entire tank - thus making it much easier (and cheaper) to keep the bikes looking new.

Suzuki tried that route from '93-95. Without having a perimeter frame for the tank to sit in the shrouds made the bike feel as wide as a truck.

That's fine...I just don't like the angular look.

I'm with jtomasik...not a big fan of the pointy angular plastics. Thumbs down.

I kind of doubt if the Japanese economy goes in the pooper that it means all segments of its economy wil die. Do you really think Toyota is going to die? If anything, with the dollar/yen ratio where its at now, Japanese products should become more affordable.

But Im no economist.

My friend that did the conversion above, (Also did a white one) did this without buying the above mentioned kit. The overall process was not that bad. Some aluminum welding and the parts.

I'm not sure if anyone will make a graphic kit for it, I doubt anyone but UFO will and what you see is what you'll get. Luckily, there are tons of custom graphics companies that can hook us up.

We are receiving one of these kits in the next couple of days and will have a template for the graphics by the end of next week available with all of our current Yamaha designs at www.stickmangraphx.com the site is under construction at the moment but fell free to give us a call. We are also developing an alum tank for the yz's to work with the 250f shrouds that should be available by early summer and much more affordable than the vlaadracing kit
