eleven10 mods gets the shaft on speed

Edited Date/Time 3/5/2012 12:38pm
first it was the go pro, they said it was the k&n fmf honda. then nicoletti was talked about and they said listed with no sponsors. then jeff gibson listed as k&n honda.
is this a goof on speed or is that really all they reported to them as the sponsors? i find it hard to believe you wouldnt throw your own company name in there.

FMF and K&N could be title sponsors. But I agree with you.

it's probably an entry form issue, like they entered late and didn't fill everything out or the entered early and didn't have the same sponsors.

I doubt it is anything more.

just sucks that the riders are getting the exposure but no mention of the team behind it.

eleven10 is the biggest name on the bike, so id figure they are their title sponsor. idk tho. just something that caught my mind.

Ummm, the announcers aren't detectives and can only go by the information that the riders give them.

Here's what Gibson signed up as:

275 Jeffrey Gibson Blacklick, OH Honda CRF450 K&N/FMF/Scott/Motion Pro/SDG/Galfer/Tag/ICW

And Nicoletti?

8 715 Phillip Nicoletti Cochecton, NY Honda CRF250R none listed

Maybe you should check the facts before you talk about Speed shafting someone in a thread title....

and thats why this sport will continue to stay at the level it's at. The Announcer should be detectives and find out everything. It's not like Jeff and Ralph don't wander the pits during the day.

Agreed. If they don't know that all 3 guys are on that team, they shouldn't be in the booth.
Gibson killed it all day.
And they have arguably the best looking bikes in the pits, not to mention powerful.

I listened to a podcast about 3 weeks ago on either DMSX or Pulp MX and i think it was Sheehen that said that at Speed, they have nobody to dig those facts up. They don't have the money for that type of research.

At ESPN for the X games, someone digs up the ENTIRE life history (concerning the participants) so they have stuff to talk about if there is any down time.

It might have been Weigant that said that and not Sheehen, but non the less, that is why those three in the booth sometimes don't have all the facts.

I have to agree with Barrington on this one though. Those guys aren't nobodies, they at least know these guys, as Gibson has been at it for a while and Nicoletti was a teammate with RC when Nicoletti broke into the big leagues with team Suzuki. Anyone who follows MX knows those guys. It's not like he's Cole Thompson or something flying under the radar. I don't even know who Cole is!

my friends and i were talking about that "no sponsors listed" last night too. I do agree that even a weekend warrior 12 year old knows the eleven10 team, and probably knows who was on it last year and random facts about the team, and theyre not even a big name, Ralph and Jeff definitely should have at least been able to say "I believe the title sponsor is:_____, but it is not listed".

The only reason I could see for not doing so, is if they had said that they were sponsored by someone that they werent really sponsored by, and it created some sort of contraversy. Id say that its hard to believe thatd be the case with a good kid such as Phil, but it could happen..

Hey guys, give them a break!

I pointed out in another thread Ralph shouted "and Reed makes the pass for second" when Brayton passed Millsaps....

What more do you want from them???

Are you saying that Phil rode for Team Suzuki with RC? There are some years that are pretty foggy for me with old age and all, but I don't remember Phil Nicoletti every riding for factory suzuki.....I could be wrong but I think he rode honda's for most of his AM career and then had a stint as a fill in rider for KTM for a while a few years back....

The thing that kills me is they don't need people to look it up. All they have to do is open their eyes when walking in the pits. Maybe Feld needs to do a better job of supplying Speed with the proper info. It makes the broadcast and sport look very amateurish.

Speed doesn't even have someone to look up the facts when it comes to bigger things such as NASCAR. They believe it is up to the announcers to do that research.

With that said I think Ralph has actually been much better this year.

like the saying goes, The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. IE factory guys getting paid and a steep slop down to the struggling privateers

Ralph Shaheen does the track walks right?

And Emig and RC are the "insiders" they could help him out which, would help the overall broadcast.

Hate to say it, but they arent as polished as say a Nascar or MotoGP broadcast.

Shaheen has gotten better IMO but its time for a new guy in there with Emig and RC.

You heard "re-takes" second. As in he was in second, got passed then returned the favor. The reason I caught this is I saw the other thread comment and then happened to catch the second airing.

My brain almost melted, but I was able to fight through it.

Actually, for privateer guys especially, a lot of their deals come together really late and entries have to be in really early. There is a good chance when Nicoletti registered for the first round or his license he didn't know who or what he would be riding. A lot of times they pull the info from the first race through all of them, so even if corrected later it could be missed.

Also factor in the fact that sometimes it is the team, the fills part of the forms in and sometimes the riders, and everything is a scramble, it isn't un-common for it to be missed.

I do wish the commentators would have a bit more knowledge about all the guys on the track, including the 3 digit guys so they can give them the glory they and their sponsors deserve when they get a rare bit of TV time.

But, I can't complain too much because we do have A LOT of live races on TV which is a dream come true.

Re-takes second sounds similar to Reed takes second... It was when Brayton passed Millsaps, then Millsaps briefly passed him back, "re-taking" second.
